I see the Daytona Shootout is now called the Sprint Unlimited slated for Feb 16th. The Duels Feb 21st. The 500 is on Feb 24th, my b-day woo hoo. 3 day test session at Daytona starts tomorrow. SPEED is covering it.

I was listening to NASCAR radio and they're mentioning Mayfield again. What did he do now? I can't seem to find any info....

I think Mayfield need to just fade away. He's been for some time in the fans eyes. Not sure he would get a very warm reception if he were to return. Which is highly unlikely.......

Mayfield is a lying cheating POS and just needs to go away.

On other notes I can't wait for NASCAR, knowing its coming back was the only hope I had since it didn't look like Hockey was coming back, now I got them both again thankfully!!

Yeah, he has more to worry about than getting back into NASCAR at some level(not that it will happen. Who would sponsor him? No one....). He has some felonies looming over him....... Sad deal. Got into drugs and then spiraled downward. Hope he gets his personal life together.......... That's all they were talking about on NASCAR radio today. At least the parts I heard.

Wont be long and we'll be hearing, "Gentleman(sorry, Drivers) start your engines!". Danica is full time Cup this year......

4 hours of Live testing at Daytona as we speak on SPEED. They just had the "big one", right "before" I turned it on. I missed it!:faint2: Sounds like about 10 cars involved. The only ones I know for sure are Gordon, Edwards and Kahne. I guess there are no backup cars, except Edwards, because they're not ready yet. They're waiting on NASCAR to finalize what they want at the race, car building has come to a halt. SOunds like the bumpers aren't matching up very well with the new car. At least not Chevy and Ford. Chevy was behind the Ford before the maylay.....

Yeah, the 88 just bumped the 9 and turned him. Jr. mentioned his bumper went under the bar on the 9 and lifted the 9 and turned him. And when that happens at almost 200 mph in the front of the pack, well. ................. They call it the big one.

No one was upset which was the good thing, they all know they have some learning to do with this new gen 6 car.

The drivers all love this new car, and they understand you have to push the limit to find out what will do what. Jr didn't really hit Ambrose hard, the cars just don't line up like they used to and they are rounded on the front. Whole new ballgame for the drivers. More like the old days.

And the fact the rear of the car is shorter, I guess it's pretty light going down the stretch. The rear spoiler is smaller too. They basically loosened the cars up. A bunch of teams already went home.............

9 teams had to go home, no backups. The only team with a backup car was the 99. Some left because they couldn't afford to break the car. It was funny to see one side of the garage empty except for the 48, the rest on that side of the garage left.
It was a crazy show. If you have Speed TV, it replays here in a couple of hours.

I saw that! They said MWR's team went home too. Apparently because Michael didn't want to take a chance on wrecking a car. They were mainly concerned about drafting. Since that part of testing was over, they bailed. I was listening to NASCAR radio and they were speculating more teams leaving tonite.....

I gotta say, I love these new cars, so far. I also think the spoiler thing will cause problems. Not like the Car of Tomorrow wing but I think these cars need spoiler. I agree with you all about Mayfield. What do you all think about Almendinger's story. I like the guy and believe what he says. I would like to see him catch a break. He may never be Cup champion but he has heart. Come on Daytona.

I agree, the spoiler needs to be taller to create more down force. As it stands, these cars are really loose in the straights. A little loose is fine, a lot loose can be bad. I believe in AJ too. I think he's a good kid that screwed up. I would put down good money that he will never let it happen again. He seems to be the type to learn from his mistakes. He's been getting part time rides. I believe he will have a full ride again.....

I could care less what the car looks like, I am just interested in what the driver does, far as I am concerned I wish they would go back to the old days, race it on Sunday, Drive it to work on Monday.

Sorta. But you see manufacturers copy other manufacturers lines all the time.
