66 years ago today. Well before my time yet it still sends chills down my spine when I hear about it. My thanks and respect to all that answer the call.
Grandpas brother in law was stationed there when Japan attacked. He never talked much about his time in the Navy. He went on to fight across the Pacific Theatre as a Tail Gunner. Thread made me think of him and all the times he took us fishing as kids. Hat's off to my Uncle Grandle and all those Who served.
My father was stationed at Scofield (sp) barracks at the time. Not much mention on any of the news channels about this day in history. Guess we don't want to upset the Japs.
My son in law just shipped out for Iraq 1 week ago monday. If he's any indication ( which I think he is ) of the caliber of young men and women serving in our armed forces, I think we'll be OK.
Well I probably saw the sterile Arizona, but it was moving just the same. I am guessing it was 2000 and my family was with me. Very somber day, but that evening we saw a fireworks show from the plane as we took off to head home. It was for Mighty Mo as she was being welcomed to her retirement next to the Arizona. Pretty cool day and a great memory and reminder for my boys . . .

Hey Mudmagnet! Thanks to You and yer wonderful son fer protectin' all of us here at home. I will pray fer his safe return after he and his fellow soldiers have secured the victory many of us want.
My corncerns are not about our military or our soldiers (who are the very best we have ever had and the finest soldiers in world history, [IM not so HO]), my corncerns are about the "people" here at home.

My mother got a chance to go visit the Arizona memorial when she was in high school. She said it was the one day since it opened that it had closed, I believe some remains of some sort had come to the surface. She never got another chance to go!
