Just wondering how many props the average iboater has on hand? I have one boat and 4 props! I think i had more when i had 2 boats... but this sometimes seems excessive. I think i will sell one on Craigslist but it just got me thinking. So let me know how many you have on hand...

Got two I use when changing load conditions on my Lk Michigan boat. One spare thats the wrong pitch for that boat and two, one I run and a spare on board for each of my other three boats.

I have three currently - a 23p three blade Volvo, a 21p three blade Solas, and a 21p four blade Solas. All are aluminum. I prefer the four blade by far and its currently installed, the 23p Volvo is the onboard spare.

I wont use stainless props because the St. Lawrence river is a notorious prop killer.

Oh, I don't know: About 15 or 20. Right now I am down to three running boats and I did sell a couple of engines so my prop "stash" is down.

Yeah Frank, but you aren't the average "Joe"! Grin

I have 4. 3 Ballistic SS: a 17 was on the 2 year old boat when I bought it. The thing would give you whiplash on hole shot and max out at 20 mph (sorta). I wanted to set it up properly, so I ran some numbers and figured a 21 would do it. That worked really well, but there was still room to spare. So I bought a 24 XL and hit the sweet spot.

I bought the alum because it was $100 on here and it boasted a lot of refinements that SS props had. I couldn't get adequate pitch (I thought) in my gearcase size so I found one in the larger gearbox used on higher hp engines. I looked at the numbers and it would fit. I bought it, adapted it, and it really worked well for an alum but I over pitched it and rpms were lower than I wanted. But I proved the point and if I ever boat in hazardous waters I will go with the brand (Turning Point Hustler) but will do some research on pitch and stay in my dia. size range.

Re: How many props do you have?

I just sold a spare 23p 3 blade aluminum to a friend... but i bought another here on iboats. Got a solas 4 blade aluminum 21p. We'll give that a go. So, i still have 4... oh well. If i had 15-20 props, the wife might catch on to that. 3-4 can be hidden well :)

Two - one for each motor, but it is a good idea to carry a spare.

Re: How many props do you have?

Three-
1: Factory "Black Max" aluminum 19 pitch
2: Mercury "Vengeance" SS 19 pitch
3: Mercury "Vengeance" 22 17 pitch

I use them all depending upon load and what I am doing (watersports, cruising, unknown lakes with debris).

I am thinking or selling the 17 pitch though.
