Re: How many props do you have?
Oh, I don't know: About 15 or 20. Right now I am down to three running boats and I did sell a couple of engines so my prop "stash" is down.
Yeah Frank, but you aren't the average "Joe"! Grin
I have 4. 3 Ballistic SS: a 17 was on the 2 year old boat when I bought it. The thing would give you whiplash on hole shot and max out at 20 mph (sorta). I wanted to set it up properly, so I ran some numbers and figured a 21 would do it. That worked really well, but there was still room to spare. So I bought a 24 XL and hit the sweet spot.
I bought the alum because it was $100 on here and it boasted a lot of refinements that SS props had. I couldn't get adequate pitch (I thought) in my gearcase size so I found one in the larger gearbox used on higher hp engines. I looked at the numbers and it would fit. I bought it, adapted it, and it really worked well for an alum but I over pitched it and rpms were lower than I wanted. But I proved the point and if I ever boat in hazardous waters I will go with the brand (Turning Point Hustler) but will do some research on pitch and stay in my dia. size range.
