I am a really liken this 1989 Sea Ray Sundancer 27' cruiser. It seems to have a lot of vintage looking aspects to it that i really like including the redone upholstery. It has a chrome steering wheel and other chrome details mixed with some wood. I think it has been well cared for but it has, I think 7 or 8 hundred hours on it. My first and only mates thinken it has too many hours and is a little too retro looking. It also seems like a high price but I was wondering what you all thought of this boat. http://spokane.craigslist.org/boa/2570046802.html
Thanks in advance

Yes, "Hillside", I agree w/ the others. Price seems several thousand too high. She looks clean though. Back in the day, we owned that exact model. We loved how it would eat 3'-4' footers all day long running Lake Ponchartrain, but it was a marina queen for us. We did not trailer it. Good luck !!!

Looks like a nice boat, I wouldnt worry to much on the hours, if the motor and drive check out good. I would say 1500 hrs would be getting tired on that vintage motor. Not so sure I would want a boat of that size with a single screw though. It does seem a bit pricey too.

One in NY for 10,500 with new upholstery,2500 in upgrades in 2010, etc.Same year,it does not mention trailer so that may be factor. The trailer would add value but not 6G's worth, maybe 1500-2000.My question is why would you want to go into a deal with the war department giving it a thumbs down. The first time and every time after that when something breaks or goes wrong you will never hear the end of it.For my own piece of mind i would have her sign off on any boat purchase,if she had a say in it.

First mate should get a promotion on this call. Dated appearance and high priced for sure. Quite a bit of teak wood to take care of; late 1980's was about the last years for teak on powerboats.

To each his own as far as appearance and styling. Dated? OMG, that vintage styling was one of the most beautiful ever!

In my neck of the woods, a pristine classic is admired by many. Mine is a bit older, but I get comments ever time I'm out in her. With my first mate on the deck, I know she gets comments as well (she's a looker too). I know if I had a euro style hull, she would'nt get any comments at all (the hull OR the first mate!)

By the pcs she looks to be in exceptional condition. If it were me and I was looking for one that size, I would jump on her so she didn't get away (the boat that is....LOL).

Well wipe me up off the floor. The lake floor, cause it sounds like I may be a sucker. LOL before I looked at it I called him and said there was no sense it looking at it at that price. He did say 15k was posible. After the response here I was thinking to try for $14,075.00.
Any tips on a boat that has more of a retro look. If I had my way i would be sitting on something like this http://www.pbase.com/ed_whitebone/tugboats&page=2
Thank you all very much for the feedback

I just noticed that you're on west coast.

I'm just saying that is what it would sell for out here .. east coast. :)

that last pic seems a little large for the waters around spokane !

only etracer mentioned about the single screw......a 27 is as large as it gets for a single.....some even wish they had twins on a 27 cruiser

If you want to keep first mate or want to keep boating and have a first mate, better listen to her.

He's about double what it might be worth on the east coast. Wouldn't even get a tire kicker asking $17k. I can't even get bites asking $9200 and I see people getting lookers asking twice as much. I'm on the wrong coast!!

Its a classic and its beautiful.

Price may be a little high, but you get what you pay for.

If you like it, (make sure), then go for it.

If your mate doesn't like it, look at a few TollyCraft,

eubanks4.jpg

They look even more dated, and the price will be double that of the SeaRay.

I say you have the SeaRay inspected and go from there.

Yep...even in as beautiful condition as that 268 appears, it would command about $7k to $9k MAX here in the Midwest. Having said that, it is a CLASSIC...and the teak wood is worth the labor of love if you enjoy having a boat that exudes a certain kind of luxury. The modern roundish, plastic looking boats simply have no personality or character. I know, I have both a "classic" and "Euro" shaped cruiser. The "plastic egg" as I call it, is for sale in the spring! And that trailer is only worth $1500 to $2000, if perfect! Seller is smokin' silly cigarettes. :D

I agree with this assuming by first mate you are talking significant other.

In my world, Wife is the admiral, I'm the captain and son is the first mate.

Also, west coast boat prices are not higher than the rest of the country. I GUARANTEE that there will be stuff you need or want to do with this boat. Don't overpay. Something will need fixing and you want to have the money to fix it.
