is this your first boat? why do you want such monster boats if so?

My "first" boat was the one in my sig. I owned a few others before (one parts and one project) and grew up with my fathers boats, but when it came time, I went right for something I can have a lot of people on, sleep on, etc... It also sounds like he has owned boats before.

Anything wrong with a 30' boat? What 30' boat? There are thousands of them out there. There are hundreds of them out there for under $15K as well.

Now your talking. Carver is a great boat and very sought after on the great lakes. 30 foot is a small Winnebago on the water. lol
Just a great summer boat, lots of room, very well made, one of the best layouts of any boat builder.
If I was looking for a new boat, and not downsizing due to retirement then that boat would be very close to the top of the list. Maybe #1

Can you tell I love Carvers. :D
Cedar Point Marina, heated winter storage that you can work on the boat in the winter. Life is good.;)

Bad part is 8-10 big ones for the year in dock, storage, fuel and upkeep.

Hung, you are definately a Carver fan, you either love them or hate them. I will agree the interiors can be nice, but what a useless boat other wise. And Fuggggley. One entry, one exit. They took a great hull, then ruined it by redesigning what sits atop it. Just my opinion, but that is one ugly boat and not worth what he is asking. Good news is you can probably buy it cheap because it is a limited market on who would buy one.

How about a 99 wellcraft with 99 hours on her. http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/boa/2602207474.html

Here is a carver I would think about - http://cleveland.craigslist.org/boa/2587905960.html

I'm probably just sour that I can't sell my boat for 1/3 that price, but $30,000 for a 1992 with unknown engine hours, in need of an interior cleaning and what appears to be really worn isenglass? The boat is also described as sleeping 4, meaning it probably doesn't have a seperate vberth and dinette. I've never seen a 30'er that didn't. That doesn't sound Luke a good layout at all, but to each his own.

Here you go Hillside...this PROVES what I, and others have said. This seller is right on the money. He is no fool about what the market will support. In fact, if I wasn't putting a new motor in my 250 right now, I would be taking this 268 off his hands. No joke!

Thanks! I am hoping to find a good deal in my area this winter. I does seem that boats are a little less expensive the further est you go from here.

The deals are out there, you just have to keep an eye out for them. It also doesn't hurt to go have a look at a lot of different boats.
