I was on the other side of town trying to find a shoe shop which turned out it was out of business or moved to another location. So I decided to go to the shop in the oposite side of town that I have dealt with before. I got on one of the worst streets we have in this city, I have even had 2 accidents on this 4 lane street.
This older full size chevy van pulls out from the boat ramp and gets in front of me which he had plenty of time to do so. I was sticking around 3 car length or more away from him. He is pulling a nice Stratos Bass boat with an Evinrude E-tec on it. We are approaching a red light just past where I have experienced an accident, a car leaves a space open for this other car (a chevy cavalier) that wants to come out of a parking lot on our right hand side. This car pulls out I don't even recall the car stopping to check for trafic, this car pulls out and nails the van in the side. The van kept going in a straight path, the car's front end made contact with the whole side of the van and boat. It knocked off othe spare tire rack on the boat trailer, it did damage the boat by scrapping it I don't know if it made a hole or not. The van didn't recieve that much damage but it did get some. The car was a Chevy Cavalier early 2000's model or so, the hole front bumper and all got tore off, the hood pushed in other parts scattered through out the road.
The driver of the van pulled in to a resteraunt parking lot, I decided to stop and see if he needed a witness. The driver of the car went a couple of parking lots down and parked there. I had my phone out, but I wasn't fixing to call 911 because so far from what I seen nobody was hurt, I walked around to where the van's owner was and somebody was already calling the city police. The owner/idiot of the Chevy Cavalier snuck off on us after sitting in the parking spot with in view for a few minutes we turned our back and he was gone. I waited until the police showed up, when they showed up I told them that I was just a witness, the cop got all the info from the Van's owner and told him to meat him over in a parking lot about a 1/4 of a mile up the road
, I don't know why. I gave the man my phone numbers. The other man that called the police was out searching for the Chevy car which he did not find. I'm pretty sure his raidiator is screwed in that Cavalier. The one who was driving the car was holding his mouth, I figured he was holding it in shock of what happened, but when I mentioned what happened to my father he said "well he could of hit his face on the steering wheel" which is very possible. Maybe the man needs it hit a few more times to gain some more senses
.
The owner of the van said he works on boats, so I figure he already knew how much it would take to get that fixed. As somebody said later, "you should of taken a picture of the Chevy car with your camera phone", I sure wished I would of thought of it then.
This isn't the only hit and run that I have seen I have seen one other in my life time, but this is the only one that I have volunteered to be a witness to.
