No. The dip in the float was opposite the needle valve. With the carburetor held right side up my manual says the float should drop 1.2-1.6in. Originally I measured from the bottom of the carb to the top of the float. I think you are suppose to measure from the bottom of the carb to the bottom of the float. The float was at least a 1/2 too low. I'm no mechanic but it was way out of spec. Maybe it doesn't matter?

The other measurement, with the carburetor up side down, the float was slightly above level in reference to the carburetor. Does this sound correct to you?

Some bend the arm enough to raise the outside end of the float slightly. In operation, that would close the float valve slightly earlier.

The drop would be measured at that end of the float (opposite the hinge). The measurement as I understand it is from the float bottom in a horizontal position to its position fully dropped -- if that makes sense. I don't think it would matter if you did the measurement from the top or bottom of the float as long as it was top to top or bottom to bottom.

I have never bothered with float drop.-----Never had a problem.-------Floats rarely need any adjustment.-----Turn carburetor over and float should be level and you are done.

Hello again,

I changed the coil packs. The engine will start, rev up a little then die. The spark looks good now with the spark tester. Any ideals?

I just noticed something. The fuel pump has three openings. The first attaches to the fuel line. The second line goes to the block and the third line feeds the carbs. When I squeeze the bulb gas comes out the line that goes to the block. I am not sure bit I think this should be a vacuum? I think that this fuel pump is not correct for my boat. Anyone?

More.than likely your pump is hooked up wrong. Should be arrows on it follow them. The on on the cap is fuel in for.sure.

Hello again. Initially I ordered a rebuild kit for the original pump. When it came in I realized it would not fit. So then I took a look at the pump that was on the boat. I tried to get the part number off of the old pump and ordered it. I used an online diagram to hook up the pump that was based on the original pump. I bet the old pump and original are just routed different. Ill try to get it running later today them post my results.
I bought the pump on eBay. It was an original pump without instructions.
Thanks for the help.

Started right up. I did notice fuel coming out of the carbs especially the top one. Does this mean I need to replace the Reed valves?

No you need to go back through your carb work. Make sure your float levels are correct.

Just rebuilt these carbs. The gaskets are all eaten up and broke into pieces. I really just need the two bowl gaskets. Does anyone have a recommendation? What would cause this. Thank you.

Did you buy the cheap chinese kits. Or more than likely you never changed them and the new ones are in the garbage with the kits.
