Re: looks like war
SS,
You said, "--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What aggravates me about the media and protestors is that the media is doing it to incite panic within ourselves."

"Dirty laundry"
Perhaps. I believe they do it for ratings share. They do it BECAUSE it incites our panic and wrath.
It's the same as the car chase shows..They sell!
That has allways upset me, and I even invented a device that ,if incorpoorated , could END police chases..END them safely, while retaining complete control of the vehicle. The cost was minimal, at less than 30buks per police cruiser equipped with the device, and between 16 and 30 buks added expense per new car made. It was ignored bt NTSB!!! They showed great interest at first, but I haven't heard from them in two years. My guess is, the media was informed.
And it is agrivating for sure, as lives are lost to preserve a million dollar industry! They seem to have no shame, but they also cover thier butts well.

You asked; "Wouldn't it be possible for the FCC to notify the media that any airing of protests during active war shall be halted?"
And you also said, "The protestors do have the right to voice their opinion, but there is no law says it has to be aired."

NO
True. Dirty laundry sells, but free media is vital in Amercia. One of the FCC's jobs, is to protect the rights of the media to air anything uncensored. But the media is an essential tool of our society. All nations have news services, some owned by the state, and in Iraq, these people would be taped for review by the inteligence agengies, the participants rounded-up and imprisoned, and perhaps, even executed.
No, I'm afraid we are stuck with the roving eye, and the "bubble-headed bleach-blonde that comes on at five, who talks about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye".

You stated, "Those of us that have fought and or served our time of duty know what the price of Freedom costs. The MTV generation seems to be the ones that paid attention to music, fads, and lifestyles intead of reading about the past lives that were lost during every war the the U.S. has encountered.
SS, I was there too, I enlisted in 71, and would've gave my life to preserve my girlfriend's right to march in the peace protests (she did not remain my girlfriend) but she had that right.
That is why we served. And those that are providing that service, eating that sand, sweating in those smelly, dusty Bradleys, and M1-A1's, with some media dweeb hanging on his shirt tails, telling the world what his next move will be, IS what we were...(the MTV generation). Us old guys can only support them at home, as we do.
And now, these sons and daughters are writing the history bnooks for the SEGA genration, who will do the same in thier time, forever. God give them the courage and strength.
September 12th, 2001, I drove past the recruiting offices in town here, and I cried..There was a LINE of young men and women outside. Being next to the movie theatre, at first, I thought it was a morning mattene (SP), but it wasn't. God bless them!

You said, "I don't think I could stand having my children disciplined by the Iraqi Gov.

I don't think I could handle allowing my wife to be raped by any of the Iraqi Gov.

Those last two sentences is why I support the liberation of Iraq. If you can't be for the winning team, then move, we don't need you. "

Absolutely A/Q right on!! And even though they have the right to protest, I have the right not to serve them, talk to them, rent to them, or be spit on by them. I have the same rights, and can retain the best attorney in the state (my opinion) to clean him out if he does!

I am a gentle soul. Whereas I have never seen combat first hand (outside of a napalm drop on the coast of Vietnam once), I know the costs of such events in human suffering, it still angers me.
I want to lock-n-load, go down the the protest, and open fire..At least, my gut wants to. My heart hurts for those younguns in the sand now.
My fatherly instincts want to open fire on the sign-carriers enmass, turning thier stage-blood to real! But my brain tells me, they are Americans, by the people/for the people, and all that rot....
My soul then converts the feeling into comic relief, making it more tolerable..Byut no less an outrage.
