Nows the time to start getting all the honey dos done, so you can fish next spring and summer when it warms up. You two are great, wished I would of did more with mine now that they're both gone. You forgot to say how many you caught.

GA_Boater spring comes to us on March first. I used to have a tradition on the first day of March every year. I'd fish for Steelhead no matter the weather. Kind of a celebration, the start of fishing season. By the end of March I'll be up in Omer on the Rifle River for suckers. Snow or not, we'll start a bank fire for warmth. 90 days to go. No chance of warm weather from here on out.

I pulled the QD-16 (Johnson 10 horse 1955) into the basement to finishing fixing. I'll probably get beat for it. Ya honey do list is a must. Like a squirrel gathering acorns, I"ll try to make Momma happy with indoor projects. By the way caught nothing, we're on a quest for a 40" northern pike. And yes, it's just fun to get out. As far as you're kids it's not too late. Plan a trip for some sturgeon, man Idaho has some great fishing. Snake River!!

Love the two thumbs up!

Excellent guys:)

This boy loves to fish and boat. He's a keeper for sure. I'm blessed beyond belief. Zach let's paint the boat, ok Dad. Zach let's go fishing in the rain, ok Dad. Nature hike, yep. Badger hunting barehanded, sure. Homework NOOOOOO #@$%^. Oh well ya gets what ya gets. He's still a keeper.

You guys are keepers too. Kev, you're bad, you make me laugh.

Thanks everybody. Next spring we'll paint, and gluvit. Yep she leaks a bit, gotta buck them reevits too.

Re: Lost a fiberglass boat got another tinnie

Finally got my boat back from the upholsterer. Got a new hole to fix. Got water in it, I knew it would. When I got it home it was below freezing. I got out what I could but some got thru. Broke a small piece out where I had a lot of putty when it froze. Hopefully won't be too bad to fix. I want to learn to fish for those northern pike. Somebody dumped some in up here, and they took off. We had enough things killing trout and kokanee. People are catching them 30 to 36 inches for the big ones both above and below the lake, but I don't hear of them catching them in the lake. They gotta be there. The sturgeon are almost nonexistant in Idaho now. I don't think you can even keep any if you do catch them. I haven't fished the Snake since the 70's, not sure if I even remember how. I got big trout and salmon closer than it, tho there's getting to be fewer and fewer of them. A friend caught a 15 pound rainbow last weekend, so there are still some around. We used to think they weren't big til about 30 pounds tho.

Can't wait for that. Only a few things more dear to me in life than the spring time smallie bite. Zach loves samllies too.

I'm going to teach him to sew too. Maybe he'll get an old Singer for his birthday.

Tell people there how good they are smoked. That will cut the population down. I catch and release them, let them go let them grow. Love catching Pike.

Bought a new trailer jack (trailer didn't have one, my aching back) and a spare for the trailer. Santa migt drop off a couple of new Tite-Lok rod holders for us, if we're good.

Re: Lost a fiberglass boat got another tinnie

Ok guys. We've had the little Scamp out this year about 10-20 times. Hard to believe it's been 6 months since I posted in here. The boat rides nice for a 12 footer. We've grown quite attached to her. She handles any waves our little 500 acre lakes throw our way. But, she don't look so perty any more. Previous owners didn't treat her as well as a Starmadian would.

So, stage two begins. She leaks so we've bucked the rivets. Still leaks from one seam in the back and somewhere in the bow. Gluvit time.

I've been stripping. Oh just a little here, an hour there. It's hard work, makes my back hurt! Kinda thankless, nobody really appreciates it either:facepalm:. I know you guys will. Oh I've got pictures too! Just need to upload then. I tried to get the boy into stripping too, but he wouldn't have any part of it.

I need to post some naked pictures here. Let me go get em'.

Re: Lost a fiberglass boat got another tinnie

Glad to see you're back at it. Hope you and Zac had a good winter. I found a good stripper on mine this year. Thought I had it all ready to go fishing and camping. filled up the tanks on Friday, didn't get to leave until Sunday early, and we finally had a hot day. Fuel expanded in the tanks, escaped thru the vents, and took off most of the paint. The whole fishin trip went like that. Only caught 2 10 1/2 inch kokanee and broke down twice. Hope you and Zac had better luck this spring. I'm sure you'll get the scamp in great shape soon for the kid. A little gluvit will work wonders, but if he's like my son, he won't like the banging on the rivits.

Re: Lost a fiberglass boat got another tinnie

Well I was planning on painting today but it's 100 degrees out. SWMBO has advised NOT to paint in this heat and humidity she worked paint in a plastics factory years ago so she knows a bit. I don't know if she's right or wrong but it's really hot out. Tonight it's going to T-Storm, tomorrow it's dropping into the low 80's. Paint manana, today is too hot.

Another set back, West Marine wants $70.00 for a quart of Gluvit. I got it at Wholesale Marine for $42+10.00 Fed Ex. Zinc Chromate was 8.00 a bomb can, $14 at WM so I got one of those too. Bought some Rusto white at HD but, no green for the interior. I can't find it.

Any suggestions for matching the green on the inside????? I like the inside color and would like to keep it close to original. Home Depot will not tint Rustoleum.

Sorry Barato. I'll dig up some pictures of our white bass fishing expo on the Detroit River. We didn't take the boat, strictly shore. I don't have pictures of us in the boat this year. Zach is getting better at bass fishing. He is catching them by himself now. He is up to 2 tackle boxes and 3 decent fishing poles. He spent his allowance on a 110 piece "Banjo Minnow Set". It come with a DVD which is pure Banjo Minnow propaganda. He is in love with them. Watched the video at least 6 times. lol Last time out Boohya spinners 4 Banjo Minnows 0.

Zach is an orange belt in Karate and is 2/3 of the way to his green belt. He had an incredible stretch where he was tearing it up. Swimming, Karate and speech. Then school let out and he got off his schedule. He wouldn't participate in Karate anymore, 4 classes in a row he didn't go out on the mat! We knock him back into the beginners class with the white and gold belts. Once he gets his footing back we'll put him back into intermediates. He can kick up to his chin now, which is awesome for him.

I downloaded some pics from the camera. I was fighting with my computer last night, Vista sucks, xp was so much easier to use. I'll do the photo-bucket thing here shortly.

Sorry about your paint hey. 2 small salmon, oh man. Well at least you got out. You're right about the rivets, he hates noise. hands go over his ears. Sometimes he breaks out his ear protection when he uses his cordless drill! I tell him, "dude it's not that loud, you need to toughen up those ears". Sensory overload, I'll probably never totally understand it.

So what color you gonna paint yours?

Re: Lost a fiberglass boat got another tinnie

It's the autism. Loud noises and pops. My son wanted so bad to go target shooting with his friends, but just couldn't take it.
My boat is blue and white. The second pic shows what the fuel does do paint. That's the side with the least damage. Messed up the paint on a fair amount of the bottom. You can just take your hand and rub. Oh well, (I got more primer and paint. Sometimes fishing just aint worth while. Lake was 2 inches above flood stage then, and 2 feet above now. Now it sounds like we're gonna be getting that 100 degree weather you guys have been having. Snow melt in Canada in the top of the Rockies is just beginning too. I'll try it again in about a month up there.
