Re: Mile high city gets Higher
kalian, i did say, "if you don't like the debate and are deadset against it, stay out of the DISCUSSION." not debate. this thread was never started as a debate. it was started as a topic discussion to see if one more cast could get an answer to whether or not crime would go down, and whether it's considered legal or not. i simply stated what i know from news casts here, not websites as you say i have. in fact, almost all the information i aquire is from local media, and hardcopy. rarely do i ever get my intel from the internet. it is way tooeasy to get incorrect information, or information that has been rewritten to follow someone's personal agenda. never once did i list that i got info from a website, especially from a .gov site. if i'm going to get information as accurately as i can from the internet, it will be from a .org site. i also never said that it doesn't impair your ability to operate on any level. in that matter, you are right, it does impair your ability to do some things. i disagree about it being addictive, period. i have and know people that have quit for years on end with no problems whatsoever. i agree zmoz that people are pre-destined to be stupid and do stupid things. pot, just like alcohol, magnafies this. as far as my saying that you base your argument without fact, my answer is yes. you've only based your argument on .gov info. which i might add is LEADING the pot war. i don't give a rat's a$$ about other drugs, as far as i'm concerned theycan go on a burning spree world-wide. remember my first post about the '20's? it is completely true, although i forget the guy's name who illegalized it in the first place. did you know the main reason they won't legalize it is because there is no known way to detect the amount of marijuana in one's system at the point of being pulled over? there is no roadside blood test, breathalizer or the like? if that were invented, the law would definately change on the spot! yes, i did attack your character and provide subtle insults. your very first post had nothing to do with the original subject in the first place.
you said,"I don't know about anyone else here, but I strongly disagree. The last thing this country needs is a bunch of potheads. Legalizing it is just one more step down the hill we're already screaming down at breakneck speed." what in the blue he11 do you think is going on? potheads are already potheads. legalizing is not a step downhill, it's a step sideways. it is a lateral move. and breakneck speed? i think our wonderful government, who is so concerned about our safety that they will provide false info to give a "security binky" to all the little babies in this country is who is moving us downhill at breakneck speeds. i truely believe that there would be a reduction in crime, and an increase in revenue if they would do this one thing that i believe would make both sides happy: decriminalize it. her's the breakdown on what i think they should do, and how to go about it: 1)decriminalize it, not legalize it. do this on the state and federal levels. 2) set a flat amount across the nation that any person can carry, call it one ounce. 3) fines should be set at no higher than 100 dollars, including court costs, which puts the fine itself at about 35-50 dollars. if someone has over that amount confiscate the whole lot, including all cash on hand regaurdless if it's verifiably from somewhere else or not. it's not going to work if they throw the book at someone who has any amount over the previously stated "decriminalized" amount.4) set it in traffic court, falling off your record in three years. 5)sit back and collect 100 bucks per shot from each moron every day that is dumb enough to get caught in the first place. my final proposition is to make it a petty offense to grow, buy, or sell. same statute as above except the fine is moved up to 500 dollars and confiscation of all related items, including a personal estate search for any associated items, again, falling off your record after three years. there ya' go. not legal, not illegal, just another law to add into the countless moronic laws in the books already. kalian, i am sorry to say that i am really tired of people like you. you have good points, but you don't debate, you simply preach. it reminds me of the republican and democratic parties. "a vote for nader is a vote for bush", bull! although nader is an idiot. "a vote for kerry is a vote for the taliban", bull! "a vote for bush is a vote for armageddon", bull! "we can't pull out now without catastrophic consequences", bull! "pot is like coke, if you do it you will go out raping and killing people", good god, BULL!!! that last quote is directly from the documentary played on the history channel dealing directly with the history of the laws banning pot. honestly, kalian, i am done debating with you. you're only defamation attempt is to try to reword what i say and then throw it back at me. other people who read this post will make their own conclusions about it. all you have done is solidify my statements by making me repeat myself, which is something that i don't care to do often. others will see through all the crap written, do their own searches and find their own guiding light. i just hope they are not so close minded as to do what you have done and shut the majority out and call us losers or whatever you all call us.
on a side note, you have stated more than once that i am a pothead, and should stay off the toking. be that as it may, i smoke about 1/8th of an ounce per month, on the weekends, prefferably saturday mornings with a few cups of coffee. that hardly constitutes being a pothead. i am sorry that i attacked your alcoholism. i am glad, and relieved to hear that you don't dui anymore. as you stated, i have made my mistakes. too many to go into, but none have ever involved dui's(caught or not caught). whoever it was that said,"i hope you don't do that crap whilst boating." no, i do not. i will not put my son in that position. i do not drive on weed. again, i will not put my son in that position. only saturday's, only at home, only with coffee.

kalian, this has definately been one of the most interesting debates i've engaged in on this topic. most of my discussions and debates involve politics. not many people debate weed that much. just goes to show how many people don't really care one way or the other. fact is, people will do what they want, legal or not. have a great day, and please respond to this one last time, and we'll call it done. -k-?
