I know...I know - Some people are saying "minor??!! on a Bayliner Capri??!!"
Here it is - A friend of mine restores boats. I had him take a look at my boat to give me any "suggestions" he might have. He gave it a fairly thorough going over and has concluded that the flooring in my boat is in pretty good shape.
But, in order for me to preserve the flooring currently in the boat I am going to do the following:
Tear up the carpet on the bottom only (leaving the carpeting on the sides, and around the seat bases, etc)
Sand current flooring
Cover with fiberglass resin
Recarpet.
The ultimate goal here is to get another 3-4 more years out of the boat, and then be able to hand it off to another family to enjoy for the same amount of time (maybe more).
The interior/exterior of the boat is in very good condition - The engine runs great - So I figure if I semi-refinish the flooring, it should be a good boat for years to come.
The question I have is: Has this been done before? I thought about documenting it on here with pictures etc - but if it has already been done, then I won't do it.
Thoughts?
