how are you all doing? I,m Back with some ?s for the ol fat girl, that ol 68 riveria cruiser is in need of a motor pod, the old adjust yourself pod is starting to crack and i feel its time to replace it, I can work metal pretty good, was thinking of finding some alum sheeting and was gonna build one myself, cut it to size then take it to a welding shop, and have em weld it up, any other suggestions before i go into this?

You can do that or find one in a salvage yard.

I'm running a 90 hp on my toon.....I can take photos and do some measurements if you'd like? I've got another toon owner that I have to take photos of the hard top on my toon, so when I do that I can also get some measurements of the pod too. Just let me know if you need me to do that...might be a day or two to get it.

I would suggest contacting or googling American Pontoon Co. in South Carolina. They have replacements. Also Great Lakes Skipper or U-Fab.

Hey Virgil, this is one of those things that I think I would clear some budget for, a motor pod isn't somthing you want to find out should have been stronger.

I would find an old one and stick it on your boat, it may cost a bit more but your engine will still be attached to the boat at the end of the day.

Even cost wise unless you have someone that will sell you aluminum at a super discount I think it would be cheaper to buy a used than to make a new one especially since you have to pay a welder too.

Re: Motor Pod ?s

We use 3/16" at work and I don't recall ever getting any back, 1/8" seems a little thin to me
