Im changing motor for a 90 160 to a 96 200.
I had to add a 5" life kit for the 25 inch shaft, the pictures im post sh I w the measurements. Its off by 3/8 , will the bolts have enough play to compensate for it?

⅜" aint a lot ,can you post a pic of the bracket ....so we can see if there is enough " meat" there to slightly elongating the holes in that by ³/¹⁶ each. Im just thinking it might be easier than all the drilling and re-sealing of the transom .🙂

I’m with Crosbyman. I’d fill the old holes with an epoxy filler and start fresh to help keep any water out of a sloppy hole.

Ok , your kinda stuck with the bottom holes as they go thru the transom and if they are not right for the new motor ( not the bracket ), I cant figure from your sketch if they are or not , you will have to redrill the transom .

What do you think about milling the 2 top holes ovel? Would it weaking the brackets?
No not at ³/¹⁶ " bigger .....hell I wouldnt even mill them ....you got a round file ?. De-burr the edges and get some heavy duty ( like 3mm thick 25mm dia) stainless washers to spread the load .....I would use them even if the holes were untouched.🙂
