Re: Need some positive vibes.

Finally got the diagnostics center on the phone. "We can't give you the results on the phone, Sir. You need to call the referring physician." So I call the referring Doc (not my primary care doc). Receptionist: "He is with patients and will call you back after 2:00, also will set up an appointment for a biopsy."

Mumble mumble snarl.

Hey JB,

It's been 2 weeks since the MRI. Time to get on the horn and demand some answers, if you haven't already. One hopes that since you haven't heard anything, all is well. But geez, it would be nice for you to know. Peace of mind is a huge "pick me up"...........................

Edit: Just read your reply. And these people get paid the big bucks. Yet they appear not to give a rat's rump. I wonder how long it would have been for them to contact you if you didn't light a fire under them????? This happens all over the country, it seems......

Sorry to hear that JB :/ Once you get to talk to the doc face-to-face you'll know more. If it's bad news (the big "C") look into MD Anderson hospital in Houston, they're one of the best in the world in dealing with esophageal cancers. We're here for you whether you want to laugh, cry, rant or rave. Keep us posted.

Well, the promised 1400 call did not come. Considering several options:

1. Call my primary care Doc. Ask her to shake the tree.

2. Call again in the morning and threaten to drive down there if I don't get an answer in 15 minutes.

3. Drive down there in the morning and show up unannounced. Make as much of a scene as needed to get action.

4. Call local media and tell them to get down there to cover my burst of outrage.

Wow I feel your frustration. On a brighter note...... if you had a life threatening issue and the hospital could have the chance to make more money by treating it.....they would have called fast.

Maybe with all this delay garbage it is not serious. Think positive.

Doesn't that just stink!

It's bad enough worrying about what might be wrong but then you have the added stress of uncaring, incompetent people. Don't doctors ever get sick?

JB.
I am sure this will turn out OK for you JB.
My sugestion would be go direct to your primary care Dr. as you are her patient and everything 'goes thru her'.
You are in my thoughts and I wish you well.
Cheers

Re: Need some positive vibes.

I'm thinking this is a good sign also. Here's why. I had a sore throat for a couple weeks. Then I started getting headaches. My skin was drying out and had some dark spots that itched. I went thru an MRI. Didn't look good. The next day they did a biopsy. I had lymphoma, cancer of the thyroid, and a cancerous tumer on my brain.

A couple years later they found someting else they wanted to look at. Another MRI. I didn't hear from them for a couple weeks. I got the ball rolling and found everything to be normal.

After 2 years of treatments.....I'm fine today.

I can understand the anxieties involved in waiting. I'm no Doctor or Healer...but I'm sending more positive vibes your way, JB, and have confidence your problem will be easily resolved. Give us some good news.

Good Luck!

Re: Need some positive vibes.

Finally got some action. From the list above I called my primary care Doc yesterday and asked her to shake the tree. I also told her how angry I am about being ignored.

Well, promptly this morning the EENT Doc's office called to tell me to come in next Tuesday to sign a bunch of pre-op papers and she said she could then schedule me for a biopsy about a week later. I asked about the MRI. She said the Doc is out today but she would call me Monday with his reading of the MRI.

Not much, but at least it is movement.

I do not have the right words to express how grateful I am for all the kind thoughts from my iboats family. It really makes me feel valued, which is very important to old folks. :)

Re: Need some positive vibes.

My left lingual tonsil, near the base of my tongue, has enlarged. We don't know if it is just swollen (it doesn't hurt anymore) or there is tumorous growth there. If it is tumorous we don't know if it is benign. The biopsy should answer both questions.

Even if it is benign he has to consider removing it because it interferes with swallowing.

Glad to hear you were able to at least get some movement on this. It's infuriating, frustrating and just plain scary to be waiting on something like this. No wonder you've been having chest pains. At least now you have a little knowledge and a direction to go in, and that's something. Good luck.
