I think he was actually upset he got in his practice kick.
You're probably right. I was trying to read his lips. And I thought he said "who called timeout?" Which would've been stupid as he was talking to the guy he had asked for timeout just 10 seconds before...

Yup, timing is everything with 'icing' the kicker . . . and a coach runs the risk of calling time-out too late and the snap and kick actually are made. . Pete Carroll was probably a second or 2 late in calling time. . . :noidea: Of course, there is no telling how these things will play out - like - what if he made the first kick and then missed the second one ???

Talk about a see-saw of emotions though for both ATL and SEA . . . There has been some great games this weekend.

Timeout was called. They even showed Carroll calling it to the official. If he was late calling the timeout then why was there a timeout?

I think the "late" point was that if Carroll (or the official) had been a second or two earlier then the whistle would've been blown and there would've been no "practice" kick.

All games this weekend were great! For a second I thought Seattle made the best comeback this year to win a game.

I think it is getting to the point where if you don't call the timeout to "ice" the kicker, the kicker is kinda expecting it and not calling the timeout will screw with him more than actually calling the timeout.

Re: NFL - Divisional Playoffs

I have a few biotches about TV in regards to playoffs:

1) The 2nd game started before the 1st one was over. I don't recall that before during playoffs. Your recollections?

2) So of course we started recording the 2nd game while we watched the 1st. And they flippin' gave us updates!!! Grrrrr.

3) Fox thinks that a game only lasts 3 hours. Has there been an NFL game in the last 20 years that has lasted less than 3 hours? At least CBS understands they are typically 3.5 hours.

For those of us who use DVRs (to the Network's detriment), this stuff is particularly annoying.

I think normally they do wait for the first game to end during the playoffs, but considering the first game went into overtime they had to start the second game so it didn't end so late, especially considering the first game could continue well into the night because they will play until somebody scores. Also, I think the NFL, and not the networks decide a lot about the schedules.

Of course you're going to get updates. If there's more than one game going on you're going to get updates. That's just the way it is. I guess I just don't get the whole DVRing games thing, unless you're a die hard fan of one of the teams, in which case you should be watching it instead of the other game.

About your third point, that may have been the way it was this weekend, but during the regular season it's just the opposite. CBS always schedules 60 minutes to start at 7pm when a game starts after 4pm, which pushes their entire schedule back. I don't watch anything on CBS Sunday nights but there was one show I liked that didn't even last the first season that I'm positive lost viewers because you never knew when it was going to start after a football game. Fox usually allows until 7:30 (or it maybe 8) when you include the "OT" show. Besides, the NFL is the one that sets up the schedules and thinks the 1pm games should all be over with by 4:15. I think they need to always allot at least 3.5 hrs for every game, and the late afternoon games shouldn't start until 4:45. That would also eat into that awkward down time once the late afternoon game ends and the Sunday night game starts during the regular season.
