prolonging the life of polyester resin?

I have 404 from us composits.
I read some were you can prolong the life of the resin if you keep it in a freezer is this true?

Well kinda! I would not put it in the freezer but... for long term storage, I would recommend storing in a cool dry area and tightly sealed. Placing plastic over the spout and then screwing on the lid will help. Also when working with it in high temps keeping it in the fridge not the freezer will help extend the time you have before it kicks.

Absolutely NOT !! Dont freeze your resin !!

Do Not Store your resin in your Household Fridge !! EVER !!

Not saying anyone suggested this .. but you have to have a dedicated fridge for storing gel/resins .. On the Lowest setting ( highest (warmest) temp setting that a good working fridge will work at .. not too cold )).

Sometimes crap resin will glob up no mater what though.

I do have a mini fridge thats broke and acts like a freezer, it would be dedicated.
I wont store resin in their!
The reson I ask - is its getting cold here.
unless I can sacure the tent around boat, and get heat in their i may not see a usable day of 70 degrease
untill next march-april?????????

I?m kind of in the same boat (pun intended) as far as completing my glass work before the long cold Michigan winter sets in. Will my standard glass resin purchased in late August this year, be good next spring? Beyond storing resin in a cool (not freezing) place with air tight seals, be good next spring? Any guidance on how to preserve it would really help, that stuff is way expensive, and I have maybe 5 gallons unopened that I would like to store. I welcome all suggestions.

Ayuh,... Poly resin keeps better at a low room temp, than refrigerated...
If frozen, it's pretty much Junk..

What's this cold winter you refer to? It's gorgeous outside... just get it wrapped up this weekend and you're all set.

I so dis agree with all of you. When I was doing boat repair we kept all of our gel coat in three large freezers for years . Now that being said can someone tell me why Isophthalic polyester rein would be a different case ?. Please have facts not opinions.

In the UK we keep resin in a warm area during the winter and in the workshop for the rest of the year.
