I don't think it's rated for fuel bro..... I would get another one and soak it in fuel to see if it gets soft or breaks down.... I don't want to alarm you just thinking out loud. You sure are up early/late lol

Ayuh,... No way I'd use plain ole plumbing parts from HD on the Fuel system....

That IS the gas Fill hose ain't it,..??
It's supposed to have the tracer wire in it for bonding the fill spout to the tank, which is supposed to be bonded to the motor's block...
So long as everything is bonded, there's no static electricity, so No Boom....

Bond-o is that like a ground strap thats built into the hose itself?

Bondo, it is the fill hose and the old one did have a wire in it but how is it connected to the motor? i have a ground wire also that runs from the tank up to were the hose connects to the hull area. is that not enough?

if i need to i will cut a hatch out over the tank and pull it.
dang it.

i thought the same thing about soaking it. i think i might just cut a hatch out over the tank and make it look the best i can so i can ckeck on it . man trying to save a little $ sure cost a lot.

Thanks for the advice. I'LL have to just suck it up and get a new hose.
got a early shift today so got up bright and early.

Can you make the hatch large enough to be able to service the sending unit also?

Thanks again guys on the advice on the fuel hose.
Just ordered one from the iboats store( and some other things :D ) and it's on sale.

That's why I like this forum, you guys call it for what it is and I thank you for it. If Ihad kept the hose installed the way I did it would of been a very bad decison.

Re: Replaceing deck and transom on 88 Mach 1

Just read the whole thread and have a good idea how to tackle my transom. I've already pulled my power plant. I hope I don't have to do my WHOLE transom and just section it out like yours.

Thanks for posting and two thumbs up for everyone replying.

Glad you was able to get something out of this. Just remember, I have not put this boat in the water yet.

Their are alot more experienced guys on here than I am and I learned it by reading lots of other threads on the matter.
These guys are great and honestly you might want to look at a few more treads before you make any concrete plans.
Good luck with your project. Have you started a thread yet?

Thanks but way ahead of you. Didn't want to sound too foolish so I'm reading up as you mentioned, want to make sure I'm up on the vocabulary before I ask questions. Its been difficult though to find a transom similar to mine, with the inside exposed like ours.

Thanks again.

Re: Replaceing deck and transom on 88 Mach 1

Got a little done today.
Y pipe installed.
Tabbed in the deck and the glass work looks better than the transom did. I really poured on the resin and the glass layed out alot smoother.
Thank goodness the resin didn't melt the foam.
I'm not sure what you call it but it is a storage unit on the side of the hull. They was layed up with carpet. Pulled the carpet and their was woven mat behind it. I sanded the area and glassed it with a thin glass cloth. I hope I can paint the areas and it will look better.Has to look better than it did.
Pics on the tabbing and storage area tomorow.

Re: Replaceing deck and transom on 88 Mach 1

Question for you guys.

Do you think it would work if I sealed up the drain hole in the bottom of the ski locker.
I already drilled a hole in the bulk head between the ski locker and the tank area and glued and glassed in a piece of pvc and a ball valve on the ski locker side for drainage.
I want to turn the locker into a live well. We have plenty of storage so that's not a issue.
What do you think?

Here's the side storage. Still need to paint it.

Not the best work but it will get the job done.

Live well in the ski locker....Hmmmm pretty large live well unless you bulk it off at the helm. I know my locker is all the way to the tip of the bow and ends at the seat pedistals.... thats about 9' on my 21'

Hey my friend, I catch some pretty big fish. LOL

My boat is a 19' cuddy and maybe what I'm calling a ski locker is not a ski locker at all. I haven't mesured it but I would say it's 4' by 3'. not enough room for ski's. Genrally I use it for my anchor and ropes.

Re: Replaceing deck and transom on 88 Mach 1

Ahhhh ok I can't see why you couldn't do it... Just gotta make sure it really watertight. Would you do some kind of pump system to refresh the water in the well? A small gpm pump and a drain/spill hose about 3/4 the way up the well so fresh water will pump in and drain out circulating the livewell..... Were thinking of a livewell under one of the bow seats....might put a cooler and pump system so we can take it out to clean it or if the space is needed when not fishing....The wheels just keep turning in my head.....kinda scary

Re: Replaceing deck and transom on 88 Mach 1

I already sealed up the sides and glassed a piece of pvc in the bulkhead and put a ball valve on it to drain to the gas tank area. I was thinking if I drain it slowly it might be alright.
I was also thinking, just glue a piece of small glassed wood over the original drain to seal it. If I ever decide to change it back it wouldn't be to difficult to do.
For the pump I was going to just place a cheap o pump, the kind you would put in a fish tank to keep it airrated and run a wire to the toggles.
