I will be replacing manifold and elbow first. If that doesn't solve the moisture in oil issue I'll be replacing the engine. Engine or not, the u joint and gimbal bearing will be replaced. Get tach working. Replace bunk brackets and tires on trailer. If any time and money is left, I could use 2 new back to back seats. Boat is a 91 Bayliner 2050.

I'm going to make you northerners sick. For the winter we fish, camp, hike some canyons and washes, climb some mountains and volcanos, all of which are accessible only from the lake, go fossil hunting, and now that the lake is down, explore some previously sunken structures. Some say that the winter is no time to be on Lake Mead, but that only applies if you do nothing but water sports. We find plenty to do year round, and at 65 I'm just getting started.

New motor installed.:):) Different exhaust installed. Move the Battery, fuel lines and do some rewiring for the new exhaust to fit. Collect some go fast goodies and swap out parts as i find new ones. Repaint the trailer and get new wheels and an axel for it.

I guess I better get some walls up so I have a garage first.:D

Get the wifes honey do list started that has been put off for the entire boating season:p

This is a great idea! Maybe if I stock up on the honey-dos this winter, she'll be more excited to go out boating next year!

Oh ya, and find a bigger tow vehicle. :)

For the boat, I'm gonna finish cleaning out the crud in the bilge and give it a couple good coats of paint. Next will be add a three bank battery charger and tie it into one of the extra breakers of the shore power box. Then there's the anchor winch to install and wire. I would like to try to get the head working and re-plumb the potable water side too.

Plus my old garden tractor needs a new ignition switch, tires and wheels. We won't discuss the honey-do list which starts growing as soon as the weather cools.

Park the boat, throw the cover on, and sit back and relax. Also, fry the fish that I froze over the summer. Maybe its time to look for a winter power sport.... to bad the wife doesn't like snowmobiles. Maybe snow blowing will be my new power sport.

For me, I'll be starting the lay up for my next boat. I bought the plans when I built my last boat (12' flat bottom duck boat). This one will be a 15' v bottom duck boat. Hopeing to get the frames, keel, chines, and sheers in this winter, the hull and decking probably next winter. Of course, that will be interspersed with spending quality time with the wife out on the snowmobile trails.

Re: So What's Everyone's Winter Projects???

I did the full-resto thing last winter on the boat but there's some things left to do. I need to rebuild my bow deck as I apparently didn't build it strong enough. I have a teak swim platform and a bow-mount trolling motor that need to be installed. I'd like to build a casting deck/box in the rear and add some gauges, a tach at minimum. Not sure how much I'll get done as I am looking to store the boat off-site this winter. I'd rather have another vehicle in the garage. My wife would like to continue with some more interior house painting and I'm really going to try to make some progress on my train layout.

Well i get to take the top cap off the boat and redo the stringers, transom, floor, the cushions and seats in the cuddy, and sew up a new cover. Needless to say Im going to be very busy this winter. Oh yeah and a new paint job too.

Holding tank hoses, bilge/engine cleaning and care, possibly upholstery and carpet.

All of that, or cover it, winterize it, and reuse it next spring.
