Shooting a lawyer can only help the poll numbers. :)

Absolutely pathetic. I'm watching them palaver over this event on the 5 o'clock news. They show the press, with looks of righteous indignation, that Cheney did not report this incident to them. What a bunch of Bozos. You'da thought that Cheney was covering up that he was the Green River Killer.

Who cares???? What does it matter that an accident of this nature was not reported to the paparazzi within seconds after it happened. I don't get it.

It would be fun to see what they would have been saying if he had reported it.

Any Bets??

Sure, boom. I'll bet that no matter what, Cheney's wrong. He's damned if he does, and he's damned if he doesn't.

well at least he is an elite chickenhawk now, he has drawn blood and now understands the concept"friendly fire"
but he did not have the proper stamps, texas fish and game just gave him a warning ticket, when was the last time a game cop handed out a warning for no stamp?
wonder what the lawyer stamps in TX cost and if the are considered a migratory species?

So something is going on here!

Why didn't Cheney issue some sort of press release in a timely fashion? Why didn't he at least explain what happened. Shooting a hunting companion is not normal behavior. He has yet to explain what happened.

I heard that the secret service kept him from talking to the local authorities Sat nite when it happened. If true, why??? Anyone been drinking? Why would he leave it for a private citizen to relay the story to a local newspaper, when there is a white house press corps that gets paid big money to do this?

There are a lot of things that don't add up in this.

PW2,Take a chill pill dude.Take a couple of em.Do you maybe think there is some big scandal to be uncovered here?Should we throw Cheney in jail if an investigation reveals he had been drinking and purposely delayed information to cover up something?Do you want to know if he actually tried to knock the guy off and was unsuccessful? Are these really the questions you want answered? And right here on iboats?

24 hours isn't timely? To report to the press? Wasn't aware of the "less than 24 hours to report to the press when you acidentaly shoot your hunting partner" rule.

"Shooting a hunting companion is not normal behavior. He has yet to explain what happened."

Nope, it's not normal behaviour. It's called an accident.

Edit: Reread your post PW2, my bad, I misread the comment regarding the reporting so I edited my response apropriatly.

ob
even Cheney is smarter than that, ya cant kill a man with a 20Ga and birdshot at 20 yds. :)
and cheney is sending the texas game commision a 7 dollar check to pay for thye stamp he was missing, he did not have a proper hunting liecense.
but as far as the press release I think the big boys are just mad cause a hicktown paper scooped them.
but I did watch Scott Mccellan on the TV, man what a balrina that guy has become.
I actually felt sorry for him.

rodbolt are you serious he didn't have the license? If so, and if they don't ticket him, I'm gonna be some kinda ticked.

Are you referring to the special "Lawyer" stamp?

Re: Vice President Shoots Lawyer

nope
he failed to have the correct stamp to hunt quail so the game cop gave him a warning ticket.
so his spokesman said today that Cheney was sending the 7 dollar check to cover the missing stamp.
like I say, I have never seen a game cop issue a warning ticket when the proper stamps were not on the proper license. I hope the check dont bounce :)
at least this is what the VP spokesman said today on the telly vision.
"Meanwhile, Texas state wildlife officials reported Monday that while Vice President Cheney had purchased a valid non-resident hunting license, he did not obtain a required "upland game bird stamp."

"A warning citation--which carries no fine or penalty--will be issued to Cheney, which state officials described as "routine." Cheney's office said he would promptly send in the $7 for the stamp. However, as the Dallas Morning News headlined on its Web site, he was, on Saturday, "hunting illegally."
I gotta send this to my buddy in Cleburne TX, he got busted back about 1985 hunting on lake whitney for not having the correct migratory duck stamp, set him back about 220 dollars for court costs, fines and replacement cost. and no he did not get to keep it.
