What?? 80:1?? Starting fluid? Oh noooooooo, please tell him he's going to kill this little Zephyr. :D:D

You want to stay away from starting fluid, because it has absolutely no lubrication properties. On an engine that has not run for many years, you especially want to stick with the oil mix recemendations. If nothing else, go a little heavier on the first run.

Nice little Zephyr, Chinewalker. I thought about modifying the second Zephyr I restored, but decided not too.

Yea, eventhough you're rated for 60 horses, I still think a '57 Lark or Javelin would look cooler on that boat. It'll tun some heads, down at the water. :D:D

No worries. Starting fluid was like a quarter second dusting. You may have misread my post or maybe I wasn't as clear as I could have been. I put about two cups of the 75:1 in that I had mixed here but then also added about 2 more fluid oz of the Amsoil so it's probably close to 5:1 right now. Will probably smoke like a freight train. TCW3 is on the way along with Lubriplate 105. Ran it all of maybe two to three minutes tops. All is good and the Zephyr should live to see another day:D.

Yes I agree the Javelin would be a head turner. One good looking engine. Did they only come in 35 hp?
My 50 hp does so nice I would love to keep it close to that in hp rating but it may come down to making a choice on looks vs function. Twin Javelins would look super sweet if they make them in say 25 or 30 hp but then I fear there'd be no room for my little Zephyr in the stack.

A good example here.

Lloyds boats and motors are unbelievably nice. He has a great collection.

1946 Z, Can you give me info on which screws are vent, fill, etc. on the lower unit? Is it just the opposing two at the bottom on either side of the prop or is the one on front of the shaft part way up also involved?

Was your recoil cover painted originally or bare aluminum? Mine looks like it was bare but the rest looks like it was painted other than the lettering on the fuel tank.
