Re: War

I guess I am dense....
I just don't see the corrolation between fighting the war in Iraq & fighting the "War on Terror" on Main St., U.S.A.
Now fighting the war on terror in Afghanistan is a whole different matter, entirely......
So even if "W" is a dummy, I think that was the right move.......
We should have limited our resources to that fight, though.......
I really don't see that many sleeper cells coming out of Iraq in the past, 'cuz Saddy wouldn't allow it......
I'd wager we will now....
What is truly scary is that a terror cell was operating within the borders of one of our staunchest allies......
The Shiite is gonna hit the fan....
& we are wasting men, resources & money on Dumbya's wild goose chase......
I have to stop now, I feel a monkey pic coming on........JK

I think where you are getting messed up Mr. Kopek, is the refusal to remember why we went into Iraq. This is simple:

1) Most of us, after being reminded of what lengths some will go to kill us (re: 9/11 and last week), are terrified of ANYONE unstable having WMD of any kind.

2) The whole world thought Iraq had WMD (even Hillary). Many still do.

1 + 2 = 3) We go try and secure them.

4) No rewind button

Next issue (de-densification) I can help you with?

Quote--
Dont care if Al Queda was there before or not, they are now there, and we aint fighting them here in the USA. That is a positive in my book.
End quote---

Hmm, I take it you have been through airport security lately.

See Jason's excellent post! Alqaida is surely in Iraq attempting, if nothing else, to keep things stirred up. If you can get Shiites fighting Sunnis, the US military not knowing who the heck to fight and confused, it occupies the US forces fighting an unwinnable battle, and takes the pressure off of Alqaida worldwide.

If you were Bin Laden, How could you possibly even hope for a better result than that?

Re: War

The terrorist have us right where they want us. They are disrupting our freedoms, thus disrupting our livelihood.

So many look at our President and John Ashcroft for taking away our freedoms. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The TERRORISTS took those freedoms from us, as PW2 eludes to.

So we sit here and wallow in our ineptness and cowtow to every special interest group with a pack of lawyers. Because of this, we search old ladies and five year olds.

We have no chance of winning this war unless we collect our thoughts and start using some common sense.

As far as Iraq goes.

1.Hussein thumbed his nose at sixteen directives from the UN.

2. WMD's have been found there, just not reported in the alphabet media.

3. Hussein had a contract on Pres. Bush 41's head. That is reason enough.

My own quote, from above.

"We have no chance of winning this war unless we collect our thoughts and start using some common sense."

Other reasons.

1. Too many Americans hate America.

2. Too many Americans are OK with our diminishing freedoms.

3. Too many Americans have lost their will to fight for what we once stood for.

4. Our borders are wide open and we get a collective "yawn".

To sum it up, we just don't give a damn about anything anymore, except our own self esteem.

Re: War

Ken, You are right W did not say when we would leave but he did say he had a plan. As we have learned to expect from this administration his PLAN is to let the next administration deal with it; now is that genius or not.

Re: War

QC, I must say that I was not terrified that Saddy still had the WMD that we supplied him with.....
& that was even after the bedlam that I personally witnessed on 9/11....
As I said, I think that our incursion into Afghanistan was justified.....
Thank you, RF!

The only thing that we give a damn about is being able to buy cheap Chinese imports, thats about all that the current value of the dollar affords the average working Joe.

Re: War

I just hope everyone understands my point. I am all for a good old fashioned arse whoopin'. I just cannot stomach the World War One way we have gone about it. We have freakin' satelites that can read the surface of a dime from space. We have crazy technology, and the skill to use it. We have the ability to move throughout the world with no one even knowing it (Delta Force, Navy Seals, etc). We could go anywhere, any time, with relative impunity. Yet everyone is surprised we can't find Bin Laden. Our military has damn near an artistic way to just rip up some arse and not be seen coming, yet they where used so ineffectively that it is downright embarrassing.

But the surgical strikes, the covert ops, the things that happen that you never see on TV just would not have made Bush appear to be the badass he so wanted the world to think he was. We could easily just make these terrorist camps quietly go away, but that isn't cool enough. Nope, we have to roll every piece of military hardware we own right through the very region that effects our lives. None of it was smart, not from a truely effective tactical standpoint. Did Saddam have WMDs, of course he did. Was he a horrid dictator that should get everything he deserves. Yup.

Was he a direct, realistic threat to our nation. Nope. He was the recipient of our administrations do-what-feels-good-now strategy. We could have quietly made him go away, but that just doesn't send the message like bulldozing the whole country does. And it worked! Look, all the terrorists have given up! Oh, wait, no they haven't. They are just evolving their tactics while we devolve ours.

Hey, I love my country, I stand behind it, and I want the job done. I just think I should be able to ask that the job be done right, not half arsed. What we are doing right now is the equivelant of teenagers fooling around in the back seat of Dads car. They have an idea of what is supposed to happen, they just can't figure out how the parts are supposed to fit together. That is how I see our administration. Sophomoric fumbling in the back seat.

"but the dems wouldn't do any better". Whatever. Right now none of em are doing worth a crap, dem or rep. Screw the party line, lets just get a real leader for our country for Christ's sake....

Re: War

Boy o boy Eric you sure found yourself some credible publications didn’t you? Went to WorldNetDaily.com, whom the founder,Joseph Farah, in 1994 collaborated with Rush Limbaugh on the No. 1 New York Times best seller "See, I Told You So.

This is what I found.

OPERATION: IRAQI FREEDOM
Saddam's WMD
have been found
New evidence unveils chemical, biological, nuclear, ballistic arms

Editor's note: WorldNetDaily is pleased to have a content-sharing agreement with Insight magazine , the bold Washington publication not afraid to ruffle establishment feathers. Subscribe to Insight at WorldNetDaily's online store and save 71 percent off the cover price.
Anybody notice the date that they have from the other tabloid?
That’s right bunky,( April 26 ,2004) the original rag, gave you a link to another rag, that posted this story over two years ago. Old, out dated, news Eric.

Thought that I would give it a little slack and take a look-see, found this little gem. (Administration officials spoke to Insight on condition that neither their name nor their agency be identified, but their accounts of what the United States has found in Iraq coincided in every major area.)

Hmmm I wonder why?

Dug a bit deeper to see what kind of publication that they were pleased to have a content-sharing agreement with. Glory be, this is what assaulted my eyes, I thought for a moment that I stepped thru some kind of wormhole, and ended up in a super market check out lane, looking at an endless supply of tabloid headlines. But i was grateful that I didn’t see any three-headed dog photos.

Bush and Condi clash over Israel;
president overrules her for the first time

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has become increasingly dismayed over President Bush's support for Israel to continue its war with Hezbollah…….

COMMENTARY/de Borchgrave:
The U.S. and Iran are fighting World War IV

What a difference one week can make. Almost from one day to the next, moderate Arab governments reluctantly switched sides………….(Must have been asleep thru WWW-111)

Hugo Chavez emerges as South America’s new drug lord
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is allowing his country to be used as a major base for drug trafficking by Colombian narco-terrorists, according to senior U.S. officials……….

Well have to go for now Eric ,the wife has some fresh Kool-aid made, so long.
