Would it be illegal for a woman to go abroad and have an abortion?
(It may probably cost alot less including the airfare)

(This question has been edited)
If so, would every woman who wishes to travel to a foreign land be subjected to a pregnancy test by the authorities prior to travelling?

Or, would pregnant women be barred from travelling to other countries?

It is not against the law to travel to another country for a medical procedure now so that would not change. I would suspect that a pregnancy test would be performed the same as it is here.

I don't think that the supreme court has any desire to reverse row vs wade.

IF you went to Amsterdam's Red Light district and partook in all the scummy activities they allow there, only to return to the United States - are you going to Jail? No.

My guess is the same will work with abortion.

What would happen? If Roe v. Wade were overturned, it would be our first giant step back towards the dark ages...JK

Abortion is NOT a "medical procedure". Removing a tumor is. If you see an unborn human being as a "tumor", I pity you.

Maybe, YOU should have been removed!

Dear God, we've come to the point about arguing if human life is sacred?

Here's a thought for all you men. If you want to "play around", ACCEPT your responsibility. If you create life, take charge and BE a MAN.

God help us.

Parttaking in many forms of scummy activities can be accomplished legally in vegas, one does not need to go to Holland except for exotic smokes ;)

LOL, thats funny. Passing a law against killing babies is a step backwards to the dark ages. And here I thought the step backwards occured when we legalized killing babies.
Silly me!

Sorry DJ, I did not mean to offend you or anyone, i am just curious to understand how such a law would be interpreted and upheld.
If this is too much of a hot button subject, perhaps the mods may see fit to close this topic.

Elmer,

No offense taken. I just think we, as a society, need to re-think our priorities.

Roe v. Wade. was BAD law, no matter how you look at it. In a nutshell, it was license to KILL, which many took adavantage of, with remorse to come-later.

"DJ", actually my parents wanted me very much.....Unfortunately, that is not always the case....I do not condone abortion for use as a contraceptive, however I do see it as an alternative to bringing yet another unwanted child into the world.....There is all ready more than enough of them to go around....IMHO, I think Roe V. Wade is a good law....If you don't want an abortion, then don't get one....JK

Aha, so you are GOD.

"Unwanted"? By whose terms? There are plenty of US citizens looking for "unwanted" children. It's a major hassle to adopt one. Why? Stupidity.

So, you believe in "killing" for convenience.
You take it upon yourself to decide who lives or dies. You must be REALLY special.

I have found that those that endorse the "killing" of the unwanted/unborn are self absorbed.

I hope I never meet you.

They are unwanted by their would be mothers. I don't take it upon myself to make those decisions.... That is up to the would be mother. We will never see each others point of view, you have your opinion....So do I.....'Nuff said....JK

j.Kopek,

You sound as if you've been in that situation.

If you cannot convince, OR STAY WITH, the mother it becomes YOUR fault. You did the deed, pay for it. But, that's lost on the American male.

BE A MAN.

A little ONE sided on the responsibility issue aren’t you JD. Or is it a given in your book that the mother will remain involved in the child rearing. Last I checked it still took TWO consenting adults. (note: adults is used loosely) to conceive. I am not arguing your stand, but I do think your sense of chivalry is overly optimistic.

Optimistic-yes. Unacheivable-NO.

We're too willing to abandon our children/wife for so called "greener pastures". Don't the vows you made, before God, mean ANYTHING?

No parents are perfect. Women can be just as much of a dirtbag as fathers. However, statistics tell us that is a rare case. We, as American males, need to start pulling it together and prove our worth, to the American female. Right now, she thinks we are a liability.

It's ALL backwards.

Re: What if Roe vs Wade was reversed.....

Y'all are arguing around the points, not at them.

1. Roe v. Wade is not a law. It is the Supreme Court's judgement that the Constitution forbids laws that forbid abortion because they intervene in a woman's personal privacy and liberty.

2. Most of the dispute centers on the question of what is a life? Some believe that life begins with conception. Others believe that life begins with conscious experience of life, but nobody knows when the conscious experience begins, in spite of "my truth is the only truth" shrieking.

So. The question is not one of murdering babies ( a horribly vicious and inflammatory accusation) and it is not one of taking away personal liberty and privacy.

When does life begin? That is the question here.

With Terri Schiavo the question was when does life end? Clearly it does not depend on a beating heart and pulmonary function.
