Where do you like to prop your boat?

Currently have a 23ft Monterey bow rider with a 350 mag and bravo 3 with 26p props. My boat currently hits 4900 loaded with our normal load. The boats rpm range is 48-5200 from the factory. I’m thinking about picking up as set of 25p props to get to the 5200 mark. Does that sound right, or...

Great day on the boat, then ran aground.....What to have checked?

Pretty crazy, been on this lake for 15 years and thought I knew all the hazard points. I will probably get a chart finder after this. Still can’t believe that the corp doesn’t have a buoy on the island that is 8 inches underwater. I had 300 yards Of water in each direction to the bank.

Great day on the boat, then ran aground.....What to have checked?

Pulling the kids on a tube in the middle of a long cove in 18ft deep when all the sudden the boat came to a quick stop on an island that was 8-10 inches under the water. We were eventually able to get the boat off by using another boat to tow it off. It was high centered on large rocks and...

Charging deep cycle battery off engine?

I have a two battery setup with a deep cycle for when I’m anchored out and a starting battery for our 350 mag. Is there any reason why on the longer runs I cant turn my battery selector to the deep cycle, by itself, and charge it off the boats alternator?

    Couple questions about winterization..

I have a 5 point drain system and will drain the block and fill with antifreeze through the hoses until I see antifreeze coming out of the exhaust and outdrive. I would assume with the cool fuel module, I could pull drain some fuel out and refill with 2 cycle then just run the engine until the...

    Couple questions about winterization..

I have a new to me 350 mag with Bravo 3 outdrive and will be completing my 1st winterization. Couple questions…. When changing gear lube, I understand you take the cap off the monitor bottle, then pull the 2 screws on the outdrive to drain. When filling, I know I wait to see oil come out of...

Cone clutch replacement, slight wear on gears, mech is going to flip?

He had mentioned it, as a 100% fix for years. But he didn’t seem to think it was that bad, and instead of spending 1100 and losing weeks, this would probably work for a number of years.

Cone clutch replacement, slight wear on gears, mech is going to flip?

I believe his reasoning is that you go in forward a lot more than reverse so put the good side on the most used direction.

Cone clutch replacement, slight wear on gears, mech is going to flip?

I have a bravo three that has cone clutch wear, we are currently replacing the clutch and he mentioned that the inside of the forward gear has a little wear, where the clutch mates, he recommended flipping the gears over so forward is the better mating surface for the clutch. I have 30/23 low...

    3m 1099 for reapplying seadek?

My dad has a boat that has some 3m applied to the swim deck, one of those pieces are coming loose. If he picked up some adhesive remover to take off the old, can he apply 1099 to the existing mat and reuse it?

    Cone clutch replacement time?

For those that have pulled their drive and replaced their cone clutch, how long does it take? How long should it take a shop for billing purposes? thanks

Bravo 3 delay going into forward, possible oil related?

I did, upper cable was adjusted and it’s still acting up on occasion. Going in this week for the lower cable and while the drive is off I’m going to have the cone clutch checked. Just covering all my bases.

Who has starting doing all their own maintenance?

Prior to this boat I had the shop complete all my maintenance. I had the drive pulled every couple of years and still had a coupler failure. I’m thinking about doing all my maintenance on this boat. Maintenance will include oil, drive oil, winterization, and pulling the drive to check...

Bravo 3 delay going into forward, possible oil related?

Long story short, boat was running and shifting fine after service. The gear oil reservoir was low due to air in the drive so I added quicksilver hi performance 90wt gear lube, the green that matched what was in the reservoir, and now I have an occasional delay when shifting into forward...

    Bravo 3 delay into forward?

Pulled the screw and it’s dark green oil, so that’s good. Now I just have to hope it doesn’t leak around the screw since I removed it….😞

    Bravo 3 delay into forward?

Can I just pull the drain plug real quick and see if the oil is milky without having to refill the drive completely?

    Bravo 3 delay into forward?

Yes, the gear lube is changed every season. And a new dual bank charger was install this week, something could have been bumped in the engine compartment that knocked a cable out of spec.

    Bravo 3 delay into forward?

It’s mercruiser hiperformance gear lube with 7 hours on the lube and 150 on the drive. it did it twice today and works perfect other than that.
