2003 Mercruiser 8.1 HO No Crank No Start Fuel Pump Running

I'll add a possible change, if this motor came out of a boat which has Vee or direct shaft drive, then the connections going to the transmission need to be jumped together

That's not right, Merc has uses standard colors and hasn't changed them since maybe the 70's Some things are not clear for this old guy I will assume you have the slave relay which I posted above In that case all good A Red/Yellow? Post pic of this wire showing where it's coming from 496...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

Slip is determined by design of prop, type of boat and hull. It's part of the calculation not something to shoot for This is Bblades calculator which can determine all numbers just by entering the ones missing and it will calculate the one missing. Don't work trying to change slip, it's an...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

I would strongly don't start going down yet another rabbit hole, the thread has gone from not enough advance to all kinds of other areas There is to much compression but that so far has not shown it's the problem, just noting of a possible issue. Suggest; go back to the prop first and change...

Welcome Can you clarify your question, are you asking how to rebuild the carb?

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

The insulators are white, as Scott mentioned I would expect them to be cream color. The big issue IMO is the compression is high for a 3.0 we just don't see it that high ever unless someone has installed high compression pistons

2003 Mercruiser 8.1 HO No Crank No Start Fuel Pump Running

With the motor on a stand there will be no neutral safety switch Find the relays on the motor and find the one with a small and large Yel/Red wires. When pin seven on the 10 pin plug has 12V applied to it it will go to the smaller of the 2 wires on the relay. The relay should energize sending...

@gsbarry if you look long enough no matter what anyone tells you there is somewhere else which will provide a different set of facts or opinion. Your posting above is true but also need to know where it was taken from. The question of where is need to determine how it was presented. Saying a 4B...

    Mercury V8 300 hp any good ?

The V8 verado is a well documented OB with many thousands of run time on them. As with all motors there have been some issues but overall they are very reliable. Fishing boat is a good choice for the motor. Runs out, trolls, runs back

    Mercury V8 300 hp any good ?

If your asking about the motor and not the boat, if its a first Gen Verado I would pass. If its another 300 then advise which one?

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

Your gauge is not worth an crap or you have no idea how to do a compression test. Your readings should not be above 150 and that's for a brand new motor

Best way to secure pistol in truck?

That's what's good about a forum, we all can disagree, but doesn't mean anyone is right. Still say if your "worried" (note the word and what it means) your probably going to have trouble even if just a split second, and that can be a problem Don't come across like I said anything more then what...

    Timing is retarded ;-)

Reading your other thread I'm thinking about merging it with this one, because the issues are one in the same Boat currently has a 17P and you want to go to a 19P which will just slow you down more. What you need to do first Dump contents of fuel filter into a clear container and see if there...
