Starter won't turn over. New starter, new battery, fuel pump runs w/ key on 1999 Chaparral 2130 SS

Not all auto relays are the same as marine. In this case only pertaining to the small square plastic relays "are" the same as marine. There are probably others "I" am only taking about this one type

Pretty sure I was sent Gen VI, not Gen V 454

I'll let @Scott Danforth get into the HX, but we could use what boat do you have and are you in fresh or salt water? Going to a 454 Mag with 502 heads means you could go with a full 502 and pick up another 80 hp or so. The 502 would mount up to the 454/7.4 without issues

4.3 longer cranking after sitting few days n when hot

Not VL, it's the carb and for me I would just live with it A carb sitting for a few days evaporates all the fuel from the bowl. When mine sat, I just crank for 10 seconds before even pumping throttle the first time. Then pump, set choke and try again, just a carb thing Now, once warm that can...

1991 pcm nautique not able to crank after major flooding from carb

They may not know what is causing it I bought a D3 dozer and it would only crank over slowly some years back, turned over slowly. I thought maybe new starter and such. To shorten the long story, I pulled the valve cover and saw rust. Ok, learned something but motor runs good now after I rebuilt it

    Mercruiser 3.0 140 dying out

When shifting it might be the shift interrupter on the shift plate. The interrupter is used when coming out of gear to neutral. The dying issue right now appears to be more fuel so I would fix that first before adjusting shift, might just induce another problem.

    Code spn 3217 fmi 5

Yes, that motor has Cat's The code numbers are for the most part standard based on engine type, based on my research. Example automotive code XXXX is the same across the auto industry. You have a GXI but didn't say anything after that. Have a VP manual listing codes for a GXI-F and it doesn't...
