    What model do I own???

Welcome aboard, looks like you have some fun and rewarding work ahead of you.

    1970 starchief

90% of overheating issues are the impeller and if chunks of the old one come loose they'll get stuck in the T stat. An increase in oil level and or milky oil water contamination is the sign of a cracked block or head gasket failure. If you have water in the cylinders again after replacing the...

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

Yeah that's not right, looks like someone was using an old dull drill bit rather than a new pilot point bit that has never seen steel. The scratch looks to me like a drill bit walked across the AL. I'd cut a strip of .080 as a backer with plenty of 5200 to seal up that mess and give the new...

    140 Etec too much weight/power

The only 150 of the era that weighed only 300 Lbs was the Merc inline 6, all the others were V6's and weighed in closer to 400 lbs. The power / torque difference of a prop rated 140 vs a flywheel rated 150 wouldn't make me worry at all especially on a 21'r, my 18' SS is rated at 140 and my 22'...

    Bluefin 16ft. 1981

:welcome: aboard Joe, I don't get out of the Starcraft tin head section much but your Bluefin looks pretty standard to what we see over there. A wrecked interior needing a full gut job is standard fare. New transom and decking with no pressure treated plywood. Lots of ideas in the SC section...

Glad you figured it out that a riser gasket was all it needed, who would have thought?

    Bow Eye Replacement

The AL bow eyes were a bad idea as the eye gets mauled by the steel hook and the riveting them on was the second problem. I went with 3/8" stainless steel bow eyes with a nice sealed up ply stack backer with 5200. I couldn't find the pic for my SS but here's my SN that had the exact same eye...

My First StarCraft; 1975 18' SuperSport

Nice sized fish, on bass or walleye gear they fight great. I used to spear carp here. What do you do with them?

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

What I did for the remaining tough paint was to apply stripper and scrub with a 3M medium pad that with a handle and rinse. After that and the hull was bare, I ran a palm sander over the entire boat to get anything left over and to break the surface tension of the AL. For the bow deck, on my...

2003 75hp 2-stroke ELPTO Rough Idle with Video

Not sure where one would find the old style bulbs, I use the Moeller max flow 3/8" primer bulb .

Motor Change on my 1973 Mariner 18'

I had the same issue on my SS, it had non BIA standard outboard mounting holes drilled through so I had to cover them with a plate and drill standard holes. Here's the template.

1973 16' Starcraft Super Sport new to me

I would pass on a step that has a bottom support and only one handle to grab onto above. Unless of course you have the transom that's cut out really wide and a single is all that'll work. I installed this one on a friends 65 Holly, the telescopic ladder is a must.

My First StarCraft; 1975 18' SuperSport

Nice having the 2 smoker popping away, sounds healthy to my tuned You Tube ear ;) On the voltage, yes very common and I had to do the swap from rectifier to regulator because my 79 140 Merc was pegging the volt gauge on my starting batt too. Because they were so inexpensive I ordered 2 of...

    1976 Mariner Rebuild

Paint is cheap easy protection why would you only paint a little section? Yes paint the boat, 44 year old paint is always nasty looking.
