    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

If I am looking at the right picture, looks like some type of old adhesive. If its corrosion should be powdery and not lumpy. JB Water Weld has been a favorite of many for this type of application. As for the bigger holes, you can use a patch. Or if you are looking for a "prettier" look you...

    1978 16 kingfisher

While Cleco's are nice, many of us have used bolts through or blind rivets to hold pieces in place while bucking the solids. As for making it worse, can't be. They had failed so even if you have a miniscule leak, its still way better then an open hole. You are doing the right thing. QQ...

The story of two motors - 75 Johnsons

The original thought was to use this motor while he did a tear down of the new one. He doesn't want to use it long term, unless I missed something. So the amount of time, effort, money may not be something he is willing to invest. Its something that might need to be done. Won't know until he...

The story of two motors - 75 Johnsons

To start, I have never done a cylinder rebuild That being said, not something I would undertake lightly. You are cracking that case open, getting new cylinder sleeves, honing, fitting new pistons, balancing the drive shaft, etc... SHSU

The story of two motors - 75 Johnsons

Joining the thread instead of using your rebuild thread You can test head gasket seal by doing a compression test of all the cylinders. Should be ~120 PSI per cylinder or within 5% of the three. Also to clarify I am not aware of an official PSI standard for these older motors. Once you...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Congrats on the "Soft" splash!! I had engine trouble too. The first time out she worked great, but then for about 6-9 trips I had to rely on the kicker. Couldn't get on plane and was bogging. Great thing about these older motors is we can fix them. Just some TLC and you should be good...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Looking good!!! Two comments: How far forward do the bunks run? Just curious as I know you have that fuel tanks up front. Would think your current setup is fine, but always something to double check Second: Your middle window I see has no locks. Just a suggestion to get something to close...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

If you got brass in the boat you need to get it out. It will eat the aluminum around it over time. That being said, I don't know if that fitting is brass since there doesn't seem to be any reaction, but better safe then sorry. SHSU

Looking good! I like how you are using the boards for the siding. Looks really good and fits with the hydroturf. SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Use 1/2 inch BCX so the SS staples actually don't punch through. Plus it will help keep it shape over time. Would be good to seal as well, but up to you. SHSU

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Suggestions per your request: Just double checking that exterior rated is not pressure treated for you. BCX will do the job. Pressure treated will eat your boat. Don't use screws to secure the deck. You need to use rivets. Screws have a tendency to back out and loosen over time. Even...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

We are our own worst critics. I can't see any issue with the hydroturf. You going to finish the rest of the front deck in hydroturf? SHSU

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I did the same on our SS16 with extending the wings on the transom. Didn't like how open it was. It was a waste of space in my opinion, but how we use the boat would not be considered its intended purpose. Any particular reason you are going with a 25" inch shaft? SHSU

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Love the finishing touches you are adding. The extra time on the hardware/paint/SS really makes the boat look professionally done. I agree, the lights in the forward storage area was a great idea. Will let you find that one item tucked all the way at the end without having to go find a...

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Very nice!! What kind of seats did you get? They look very robust and won't bend if someone were to lean back in it. I have had to jerry rig some straps to help "Support" the back as the seat would bend to easily on the ones we have. SHSU
