    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

If the screws are original and in good shape, I would reuse them again too. As for TB3 vs 5200, I think for this application either works as long as you got some bleed out at the top to seal the wood. As for the number of rivets on the gunwales, agreed does feel stout as is. So unless you...

+1 with @MNhunter1 Countersink and fill in. If the rivet pops and breaks your epoxy you have bigger issues. (I am guessing you are sealing the whole sheet and not just the countersunk areas) SHSU

The wood screws, were they SS or just standard outdoor rated? I agree with your glue thought, I used 5200 on them. I followed what @Watermann did with his. Up to you if you want to or not. They lasted 40-50 years before you replaced with the original design. Depends on what you plan on...

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

Know anyone with a media blaster? I had the exterior and some of the interior done that way. I didn't have foam, but the media blaster should make short work of any as well. SHSU

How did you secure the top: blind? Same holes as the original? Did you add any extras? SHSU

Ya, if I had known I was going to spend as much as I did on the rebuild I probably would have walked away.... That being said, I wouldn't change it and we love how it turned out. Plus I literally know every square inch of the hull/engine. So if something breaks I know how to fix it. SHSU

Can't hurt to try with power washer, but would still want to wire wheel back behind the foam. Want to make sure all the corrosion is out and no pitting is hidden under anything. SHSU

What!?!?!?!?!?! No Pictures!?!?!?!?!?! lol Man those look great!!! What length did you go for in the end? It depends on how it sits up front and if you let it get that low. As you get on plane the front end is going to be higher then the back, so your fuel will move to the rear. I have...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

I didn't add any when I put ours back together. We haven't noticed an issue or noises but might also be because we have the front anchor cleat that goes through it and secures the aluminum straight to the wood. I like it!!! I would have done something like that if the admiral didn't want to...

Just make sure to torque all the bolts to spec. I didn't in some areas and it caused issues..... Couldn't figure out why it would run like a champ at idle but when I tried to give it gas it would die or just sputter with no power. Turned out I had forgot to torque the intake manifold and...

There are a lot of options for non skid out there. Rustoleum and other companies sell additives you can add to most paints. Also, if you plan on adding the non skid material to the final coat of epoxy that might give you a long lasting non skid that can be repainted over time without worry of...

1978 18ft Mariner: Getting Ready for June 2021 Splash..!!!

+1 with @Watermann Replace the seals even thought it still looks good. It sat that long, I wouldn't trust the seals to last much longer once put to work. I would do the shift lever seal, driveshaft seals, prop shaft seals, new oil bolts washers, and new impeller. SHSU

Man, sounds like you got lucky with not getting hurt. I purchased a Harbor Freight Engine lift to use and then gave it away when I finished the project. Even then it was a bear to use because I didn't account for the front bracing on the motor lift and it running into my engine stand... Live...

@Dacranks You have gotten a lot of good advice on the motor. So sounds like you are on the right track. If you have never pulled one of these apart (It was a first for me), look at getting a Seloc or similar manual for info and troubleshooting. Also, look up Brandon's Garage on YouTube...

Sadly think you had the right idea with the shovel. I have seen people use cheap roto tillers, but that was on a large ship and had literal rooms filled with foam. SHSU

Not needed and may cause other issues. The cracking would occur from the wood expanding and contracting based on temperature and such. Also how loads are distributed would play a major role in any failure: i.e. a point load not distributed SHSU
