    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Ya, West System is steep but has a huge name in the industry. I tried Fasco just because it was $55 a gallon back when I did it. Think they bumped it to $75 now. Been happy with the results and their customer service was quick and courteous with any questions I had. As for the glass, main...

1978 18ft Mariner: Getting Ready for June 2021 Splash..!!!

Look forward to following the thread!!! Similar motivation to make memories with my wife and daughter. Since our splash, we have had a blast fishing and tubing. Nothing like cruising around on a boat you rebuilt. SHSU

    1st boat - 1981 Starcraft SS 160

The SELOC manual I have says there are no printed specs for exact compression measurements, but cylinders should be at least 100 psi. Also, you are correct that within 10% is generally accepted. If the engine has been sitting awhile, might be good to poor some oil into each of the cylinders...

    1974 starcraft islander overhaul

Bracket would depend on the shaft length of your motor. General sizes are: Short Shaft: 15 Long Shaft: 20 X- Long Shaft: 25 Measurement is from top of transom to top of the ventilation plate. Ventilation plate being in line with lowest point of stern. That should give you a fair idea on...

The heavier the foam the less buoyance it will provide. In this case, don't think there is enough difference in weight other then price. SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

I used Fasco epoxy for my sealing. Other big names are Total Boat and West System. Also there are recommendations to use glass if you are using epoxy to seal. I didn't, but something to take into account. SHSU

1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

Reference @classiccat 's thread. He polished his 1975 18ft hull. A lot of work, but well worth it. As for paint, most use implement or rustoleum. A couple have used epoxy. A lot depends on what you want and how much work you want to put into it. Are you going to turtle her or paint on...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Yep, been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt... lol When you are out on the water, you will enjoy the labor of your efforts. I had many times I thought about walking away from the project. Just didn't seem to be making progress for a long time. Things start to seem to move quickly once...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Paint looks good. Hopefully over time the not priming with self etching doesn't cause an issue, but if it does you know how to replace it. I tried to get showroom finish when I first started, but am happy I settled for the look you have. We have a lot of scratches I didn't account for and...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

That looks really good. Mine I built around the idea that a single wire wouldn't kill another component. So a bad ground wouldn't kill everything. Obviously the single point of failure would be at the fuse block, but once it left everything had its own power and ground. A lot more wires and...

1982 16 Foot Starcraft SS Transom Rebuild

A full sheet of 3/4 BCX, TightBond III glue, and your pick of sealer. No need to go with Marine Grade or Coosa unless you just want to spend the extra money. A properly sealed and well kept Transom will have a long life. SHSU

    21' Holiday Rebuild

Admiral and I have been really happy with the Nautolex, but I am always looking for the "Next" thing... Playing with putting it into the splashwell for when I move around back there for various reasons, but not sure how fish blood and such would fare. Thinking it may be a fish smelling magnet...
