    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

lol, I will admit at the beginning of the project I was so wired to make everything match and show room finished. After a year, it was more of match and less show room finish. Add another year (2 years now), it was get it done right and don't worry about the cosmetics as much. Now I am glad I...

    22' Islander rebuild

Gift one of the projects to the grandson!!! :D Never had the issue to figure out what toy stays and what goes (don't have the room for more then then one), but don't envy having to make that decision either. SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Love the photos!!! The green is starting to grow on me too. Your buddy really did a job matching everything, even down to the calipers and differential cover. The Motor: What pitch is the prop you have on her now? I think I had a 19 and dropped it to 15. Works well to handle pulling the...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Howdy and welcome aboard. Here is my stab at trying to answer some of your questions. The 30 that weren't properly set, can you elaborate? I am guessing you are talking about doing these with solid rivets and a dab of 5200. For foam, a lot of guys get theirs from the orange big box store...

    1985 16ss. Sylvan

Any progress is good progress. I have said it before and I will say it again. I am so envious of ya'll that have the outdoor building space for large workshops. One day I hope to have that option. SHSU

    22' Islander rebuild

I have a Garmin CV. Wondered if a side imaging unit would have been worth it. Would be interested to hear what you think about it once you get a chance to play around with it. Additional info, I do anchor and fish. No trolling for me. Plus I got the Garmin when Gander Mountain went out of...

    Center console project

I will have to look at it. Its cheaper then 3M 5200 if you don't include shipping. One site showed it was $12.99 but shipping was $67. Would be interesting to see how it stands up overtime for your project. SHSU

Moving right along. How you going to seal the deck and secure it to the stringers? Like the Sylvan pics! You sell her for this project? SHSU

    Center console project

Interesting, do you have any data on how it compares to 3M 5200? I know that is the go to for most boaters. SHSU

What did I do wrong with Transom?

Foam: closed cell is the recommended in the form of foam boards. Don't use the liquid form. Many projects start with shoveling (litteraly) out the old liquid foam that had absorbed water. Wood for the deck: I think the standard is 1/2 inch from the factory. I went with ~3/4 as I am a bigger...

    22' Islander rebuild

Man, I completely missed that when I read your opening (Motor working) I envy ya'll that have room for the big barns/workshops. I can only dream about it...., but give up some things for others. SHSU

    22' Islander rebuild

Welcome aboard!!!! Sounds like a fun project. Looks like there was plenty of growth in her before you got to clean her out. How is the motor? Does it run? SHSU

What did I do wrong with Transom?

Bummer to hear, but think as mentioned @jbcurt00 left un protected the wood expanded and contracted, hence the failure of the epoxy. I will say I did not use any fiberglass with my build, but that has been mentioned as a point of potential issue. That being said, I also keep the boat in a...

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

Yep, if I had known just how much work it would be at the begining I would have walked. Lesson learned and new experience. No issue with removal. The pressure they are under is minimal. For the areas where they were slightly separated we used a nut and bolt to draw it together. Rivet the...
