    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

The picture showing your exterior knee brace rivets needs to be redone. The knee brace is a key component and will take a lot of force. You can see the extra exterior bracing I installed to help beef up the area. Plus I redid the drain plug location as it did no good being so high up. Still...

    22' Islander rebuild

I ran wire all over, but did it for peace of mind that one thing wouldn't kill the whole system. Otherwise, I get what you are saying and agree a lot of bad methods. SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

The aluminum sheeting on the interior isn't original, or at least not that I am aware of. I would definitely open it up and take a look. Also, for as cheap as you can rebuild these transoms it may be worth the piece of mind just to do it since you have it torn apart already. The piece of wood...

Moving right along! Nothing like a "First Mate" to give you proper motivation. You have a chance to measure that front area for a Fuel tank? SHSU

Yep, second that thought. Never thought it was very stout, hence my desire for a custom build. @Moserkr If you plan on people getting in and out at the transom for tubing and such, you might want to think about how to stiffen up that area. Additional aluminum angle should help with that. SHSU

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Interior Work

Bummer, but at least you have it there waiting for when you are ready. Any other work going to be done in the interim? SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Love the pic of your First Mate. My Admiral/Little Admiral were constant supports too. For the SW, yes it should be an easy fix. Rivet some aluminum angle iron underneath along where the SW meets the Gunwales. Run it on that vertical edge and along the horizontal edge and it will help firm...

Trying to determine the age of this 14" Seafarer before I start restoration.

As indicated by others, the HID number would be the easiest if no paperwork. Otherwise, as you mentioned It does look like it could herald from the 70s era. Anything on the trailer? Maybe something on registration to give you additional ideas on timeline? SHSU

Trying to determine the age of this 14" Seafarer before I start restoration.

To hard to read the placard, maybe a picture of the boat will give the guys an idea of what era/timeline it came from. SHSU

Moving right along!! Ya, old fuel can be a pain. I know some guys have run it over time through their trucks, but don't think it was as contaminated as yours sounds. As for your splashwell, I had the same type of failure. That was another reason why I went the custom splashwell route. They...

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

No such luck. That would make it to ease. lol Best bet is to pull up the carpet/vinyl and look for the rivet heads. You should see them along the edges and where it follows the stringers. SHSU

1975 Starcraft SS 16' Freshen Up

Took a look at 3M website and found the comment below My take from this is, as long as I don't let fuel sit I should be ok, but as you said I will "consider it a case study" too. :D SHSU

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

@Watermann has a great sticky on the main page discussing the rivets used on Starcraft. Reference there to get an idea of what you will need. As for ordering them, most guys get them from Jay-Cee. They offer a large supply of everything rivet related. https://rivetsinstock.com/ I hope your...

1975 Starcraft SS 16' Freshen Up

Man now I am concerned. I am going to have to take a look at it too. I did the same and sealed my fuel fill as well with 5200. Will have to keep an eye on it. Did you proactively change your 5200 or left it and will change later down the road? SHSU

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

Ah, ok. Thought it was already reinstalled and working. Saw the picture of fish and figured you took it out. So any updates from the mechanic or still pending inspection? SHSU

1975 Starcraft SS 16' Freshen Up

Nothing like seeing screws fall out and no holding power. Sounds like you are better off then a lot of guys. I have seen pictures where its just straight mulch. I used 5200 on my project and was very liberal with it. I am not so worried about gas getting into that area/sitting. If there is...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Yep, we all have found surprise "fixes" that PO have done. With what you are showing, I would recommend taking all the flooring out and do a fresh install. The junk on the hull is leftover from the original material Starcraft put their vinyl/carpet on with. You can use a wire wheel to remove...

Nice cooler of fish!!! Curious, why you looking to swap engines? If the 225 is working what's the need for the 250 or is performance not quite there with the 225? SHSU
