    Tilt Trailer -- How Effective?

I used tilt trailers on 14, 16 and 19 foot boats. Best idea since sliced bread. If they still made them today I would be first in line to buy one. The caveat is that I have no experience with a 22 footer. The other caveat is that all my trailers either had a stop bracket or a chain that...

    Removing an Attwood Hydro Stabilizer

If you leave it off, don't worry about sealing up the holes. You won't know the difference if they are sealed up or not. The metal parts of the motor won't care. However,..... If you DO put on smarttabs, you should worry big time about sealing up the 16 holes on your Boat's transom. 5200 is...

    Keel roller not centering

Its a bunk trailer. The bunks should be set up, so the boat's strakes line the hull up centered when loading. They are not set up that way. Crappy trailer. With no adjustments possible, jut live with what you have. A little crooked won't be all that bad.

    Small cheap roof for storage?

My 2 main family and fishing boats cost a total of $100000 plus. The garage I built to house them cost a measly $15000.n Cost effective.

    What new prop to buy?

No need to apologize. I was not upset. I just assumed that you didn't know how to access the prop selection tool, so I thought I would save you the trouble. If you had a bigger boat with a lot of HP and the potential for speed, there are a lot of options to consider. Mercury makes some...

    Minimum MPH Boat/Motor?

Sorry if I sounded negative. For 50 bucks I would buy it too. But not any more - but only because I already have one, plus his Johnson cousin. I also have matching 5 horses, and tens as well. Good motors and parts are available. Just be prepared to maybe have to spend 100+ more. If the...

Moving from IO to OB experiences?

In my youth we had OBs because that's what we could afford. Finally, with a family and a good job we upgraded to an I/O for our family boat. Had I/Os for 35 years. When I upgraded my fishing boat I went to a 4-stroke OB. Loved that rig. Two years later we upgraded out family boat as well...

    wont trim up under load

First I would verify that the fluid level is correct. Second, if under warranty, have a certified mechanic check the pump. If not under warranty, have a certified mechanic check the pump.

    Prop torque induced list/roll?

Its normal for a single engine with a RH prop. You can install expensive trim tabs or simply adjust the trim tab on the engine. Easy peasy.

    Bow stop vs bow roller

Well I hate to be difficult as well, but I usually am. I just am quite bothered when common items are omitted because we just don't care or just don't know. When I first got into boating eons ago and didn't know crap I went to the library and read a book. Awesome technology. It was a...

    Bow stop vs bow roller

A little cornfusing here. Now I see we are responding to 2 threads, someone must have hijacked the other. Rollers are meant to roll. As such, they have a sleeve busing and they are intended to be installed loose enough to do as intended. OTOH, bow stop rollers are intended to be fixed. If...

    Bow stop vs bow roller

Yesiree, intodeep. That's the proverbial problem 90% of the time. It's not hard to figure out. The angle of the dangle is of lesser importance. Its the depth of the water at the tires that counts. Novices are often afraid or don't want their wench to get the job done. That's what she's...

    Bow stop vs bow roller

You load too deep. V stops dont flip. The stem touches them and then you're done. The problem is that your transom is floating.

    Is 90hp ob enough??

I apologize. Most people here understand the basics. WHAT's (or What is) WOT means "Wide Open Throttle". In the context of this thread it means that if a boat (or engine on a boat) is set up to achieve maximum specification RPM at WOT, then the boat will perform optimally. To make it even...

    Is 90hp ob enough??

An old buddy of mine has been a boater forever. His last boat had twin 454's and he said it was a dog. Now he upgraded to FOUR 300 HP outboards. If he isn't the fastest boat on the river, and can show up EVERYBODY, his boat is a DOG. I resemble that remark. We had a 3.0 Merc for 35 years...

    Bow stop vs bow roller

I've had "orange poly rollers" and had them mark the boat and need to be replaced after only a few years. Then, I bought a STOLTZ poly roller and have been using it for many years. I think they last longer. I have used a bow roller and a V-roller. Makes no difference to me. If the V form...
