    Suggestions for a Phone Mount?

Ram makes a claw type clamp mount for rods as small as 5/8". It could be adapted to a phone mount.

    Is 90hp ob enough??

When I was a kid we skied with a 35 HP 'Merc. We thought we were in heaven. But,.....Dad changed the prop out for power, and another for speed. Your 90 will do just fine if you prop it right. Unfortunately, today if you don't have the newest or the fastest or the most expensive you must be...

Where is the lowest prices for new outboard engines?

Go to merc's prop selector and enter all your data. That will give you a good start. Personally, I prefer SS as well.

    Anti Cavitation Plate Height

Based on your numbers it should be more like a 10 pitch. But the prop selector guide says a 15 is what your boat needs. Obviously, the tach is wrong or the motor isn't running well. Aside from the rpm dilemma, are there performance issues, like hole shot.

    Anti Cavitation Plate Height

The AV plate is already above the bottom, maybe even fine for a 5" setback. If the engine is raised with it still trimmed out it will most likely make things worse. Sure, try raising it, but start with it trimmed in and then move it out, not visa versa. As I said before, the pitch and rpm...

    Anti Cavitation Plate Height

I use AC plate and AV plate interchangeably, depending on what the OP says. I DO know the difference, but when I reply to someone that doesn't, I don't want to cornfuse them. Just like mag and clip, or 45 colt and long colt.

    Anti Cavitation Plate Height

Even though you are getting 5670 (a proper number) if it cavitates you are trimmed out too far. Trimmed out one hole is "usually" where a manual trim motor likes to run. But at 4810, looks like you have the wrong prop. However......, a quick search of the Michigan Wheel site, and what they...

How much kicker hp do I need?

A 5 HP Sail Pro outboard would get the job done. A 7 would be better and a 9.9 would give you tons of oomph. However, your boat design is really not suited to add a kicker. If it were me I'd join BoatUs, switch to their insurance, and avail myself of their low cost towing service.

Bow of boat hits winch when loading onto trailer

For many many years I had a dedicated tow car and the winch electric cable was threaded thru the interior and connected to the battery. I retired that classic Bonneville a few years ago and now its just used for Cruise Night. Currently I have several boats, all equipped with a Powerwinch, all...

Bow of boat hits winch when loading onto trailer

You learn something new every day. The only 2-speed winches I ever owned were 40 years ago and they didn't work like that. Gotta love my Powerwinch (brand). No cranking, just a button.....LOL.

Where is the lowest prices for new outboard engines?

What kind of prop are you looking for? A SS upgrade? If you know the pitch, google it. There are several discount sources, including right here.

Where is the lowest prices for new outboard engines?

My SF14 was a 2009. It was the FLSS model, meaning it had a floor, live well and vinyl covered seats. The max Hp was 25. The side console version was 40.

Bow of boat hits winch when loading onto trailer

That makes no sense. High or low speed gearing always go the same direction.

Would Smart Tabs help with the pounding?

That's what Grandpa taught me back in 1954. Works every time. HIS reason was that Grandma yelled at him if the boat bounced too much...

Would Smart Tabs help with the pounding?

I am an anomoly in that I keep my boats a long time. My last family boat was 35 years old when I sold it, and some of my current boats are 57, 61 and 69 years old. As such, for me cost is no object, within reason. But that's not the norm today. Most people I know are quick to upgrade. In...

Would Smart Tabs help with the pounding?

No doubt a set of Bennetts is the cat's meow. My son has them as std. equipment on his $96,000 boat. Its all about how much you want to spend. Is a $500+ investment cost effective for a $2000 boat? Over the last holiday we had relatives out on our boat on a busy day. The waves were heavy...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

The Stingray plant and water test facilities are on a small inland lake in SC. Google it and you can see how big it is. We owned our Stingray for 35 years, all that time plying the Great Lakes and the Mighty Niagara River. Surely our new SeaRay rides better than the Stingray, but we were happy...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

We had a 19' Stingray as well, and from the factory it would perform quite similar to the OP's problem. I added a set of Perko fixed (but manually adjustable) trim tabs and it cured the problem. Then, I added a Doel Fin and OMG the boat performance was awesome. Just by odd luck, we had the...

Would Smart Tabs help with the pounding?

Tabs would not help you in any way. To minimize slamming (not eliminate it), always keep the drive trimmed all the way in. To nearly eliminate the bow rise, install a Doel Fin on the outdrive. No holes to drill in the boat, but you may lose a bit of top speed. But, the fin will not affect...

Where is the lowest prices for new outboard engines?

Based on your pictures that does not look like a 40HP hull. My Sea Nymph looks comparable and the specs are quite similar. Except the HP rating for mine is 25. My personal experience is that anything over 18HP was overpowered. Are you sure that your boat was originally fitted with a side...
