Takes on water over the transom while loading and unloading

What else is in the back under the well that has weight ? Batteries, fuel tank etc ? Should be drain holes to allow any water back out, could it be the water is coming in thru the drain holes then draining back out ? Need better pics to see if there are drain holes in the transom for the well.

    Just keeps going right

Did you adjust in the correct direction ? Usually only takes a small adjustment at a time. As mentioned it won't stop it all together, just at certain speeds. Picture of your lower unit so we can see what you have.

Lower gear oil drain plug seal for Johnson outboard

Some folks realize what a tap is, while others might use a 20# sludge hammer ! When the word "impact driver" to a person not familiar with these types of tools gets carried away, ugly things can happen.

Lower gear oil drain plug seal for Johnson outboard

A cast aluminum housing is not a good place to use an impact tool. Better off to make a tool that works with no sharp impact.

I made a large flat blade on a screwdriver that has a square shaft. The blade fits the slot very well and the square shaft allows for a little extra leverage. Made it years back and seems to fit alk the gear case screw slots.

    Accessing live well hoses

Looking for screws or even rivets buried in carpet is difficult. No set pattern as these are self tapping or drilled where ever the installer felt the need. Are the live wells in the floor or built into the decks and seats ? Sometimes the live well needs to be removed to reach the hoses and...

    New motor arrived today

From what I have read, the electric actual outboard motors have more speed than an electric trolling motor, so your expectations might be about right. I think your getting a separate LifePo4 battery was the right choice and probably cheaper than a priority mfgrs battery.
