    New project.

The hull and the majority of most boats are pure fiberglass. In your case it appears to have a foam stringer system. Typically that system requires more than the average 3 glass/epoxy coats up to 7. They are wider but if tight no wood is the nice part whereas no rot sooner than later. Wet foam...

    New project.

Focus on the demo and take alot of pics/measures. After she is stripped and cleaned out for rehab then start dinking about those options. Lots of things will be going as you demo and restructure. Those items are Wishlist/lipstick items. They will come into as you move along. Looking good.

Yea on another note the tach only had a 5 and 6 settings, no other numbers. Unit was set at 6. Ran engine dicoed from tach, then with tach. No difference at all in engine performance. Same for when I rotated dial while engine was running.

I did em Faria with questions regarding this tac, so we'll see if they have info I run with. Thanks @Reserector_ I believe I need more research with tac and rectifier. This week I'll also run my tac gun on flywheel. All good. Darn weather is rainy, cold and dark. I use to have alot more time on...

Thanks Res, Yup I did find that setting chart from Faria last night after your recommendation. Looking forward to getting home from and trying this out. In the series of events with the engine install I know I did not make any adjustments to gauge. I had to install new harness and rectfier...

Tx, another learning curve. Pretty sure I set it. Not sure though. To set the pulse on a Johnson tachometer, you need to align the arrow on the PUL/REV (pulses-per-revolution) switch with the appropriate number. For engines with two yellow stator wires (yellow and yellow/gray), set the switch...

I will put my tach on it for a true reading. No clue though what you mean about trying other pulses. Oh geez Now I remember that. What would that do. Gosh if it were that simple I'll owe you a case of whatever. As long as its reasonable. Heck I was just looking at alternative import mfg's and...

Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

So I've been working on the Johnson Engine forum and a lot of great guys helping out. End result is no luck taming the beast down from idle of 3000 to 900 rpms/hose. Going to tuck her away, clean up interior, look for another engine, finish interior. My goal was to float this summer but yo hey...

Johnson 1988 vro 225 hp fixing up a Frankenstein

Actually had to lol ...My Johnson....really? My Johnson is a freak, this old piggy has won and worn me out. Ran piggy today and used propane, starter fluid etc on any gasket area for possible leaks. Not a single I O DA of change to the 3000 rpm tach reading. NOTA, NUTTIN, ZIP, ZRO, ZILCH...

Johnson 1988 vro 225 hp fixing up a Frankenstein

On off rain day. Removed lower cowl to access any bolts I could tighten. Grabbed propane tanks for my little torch to run on any possible gasket leaks. Did not get there yet with weather, Eagles game and getting dinner ready. Usual delays, new starter cap blew off. Probably cheapo mfg. was...

Thanks @racerone Ive been doing alot since last recommendations. Ive replaced back as far as the reeeds and all related gaskets from there to front. Nice and tight. Also new fuel lines, some clear so I can view recirc lines as well as prime. They are all working great. Engine still runs high...
