Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

Yes, I have done this thing too. Did it at a 70Hp Chrysler and at a 60Hp Chrysler. Removed the connecting rod screws through the intake manifold. Disassembling is no problem except to not drop the needle pins into the crankcase. The needles are loose in the cage, the needle cage is not a...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

Pull the power head from the engine, split the power head and check the pistons and walls. If the scratches are deep (you can feel them with your nails) then you have to bore and put in new oversize pistons. If not you maybe only need to hone and put in new pistons. If that is the case you have...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

Check the head gasket first. It is easiest and cheapest. When the head is off you can se how the piston, rings and cylinder walls is at the number 2 cylinder. If bad piston, rings and walls most likely a rebore is needed.

    Chrysler 75hp, need direction.

The fuel pump works from over pressure and under pressure (you can call it vaccum/over pressure pulses from the crankcase). The hose is for this function. When you have the pump apart check the check valves in the pump. From my experience they do not go bad, they last almost forever. When...

Understanding the numbers on my boat?

Pull off the hood and check if there is a cam shaft belt from flywheel to the head. There should be a cover over the belt. If no belt for the cam shaft (cover) it is a 2 stroke, if a cam shaft belt (cover) it is a 4 stroke. Look at the power head and you should easily determind if it is a 2...

    Poppet valve

Seems to bee different years when the poppet valve disappeared! My youngest son had a 85Hp 1988 and it did not have the valve. I have one 120Hp 1991 and one 125Hp 1989 and none of those have the poppet valve. Have stripped out some blown blocks (3 cylinders 85-90Hp) that have been out of order...

    Poppet valve

I think the poppet valve disappeared on the 3 and 4 cylinder Chrysler engineered block in mid 80.es. The engines I have worked with Chryslers up until 1977 and then Force from 1987 and up the Chryslers had poppet valve but not the Forces. Your engine is a late 90.es and do not have the valve...

    1996 Force 120 overheat question

I would suggest you to check the thermostat and as jerryjerry says most water exit under the water and yes buy a cheap infra red gun to check the temperature with. As you have a late Force there are no idle releaf (poppet) valve on that engine that can be stuck.

    Merry Christmas to you too.

    Left the ignition switch on...

No it will not damage the ignition system. The old regular auto style system with a belt driven distributor with points, condenser and ignition coil can damage the ignition coil if you leave the key ON. If the points are closed current will flow through the primery winding in the coil and maybe...

    Water in lower unit

You have to pressurised the LU up to about 10-15 PSI. Google pressure test lower unit outboard and you will find how to do it. Best is to use a special tool for it, some tools only can pressurised some can do both pressure test and vaccum test. If you have a air compressor and a regulator and a...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

No the broken piece can not be attached in a proper way. It has to be pretty accurate line up for the pivot pin. Otherwise the float and inlet needle will stuck or the needle will not close properly. Maybe JB Weld or other chemical metal can be used to glue it back, but for how long will it last...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

If the carb intake diameter is the same and the main jet has the same size it should fit. You have to check that the throttle rod and the choke rod lines up with the other carb. The new carb is from a earlier Force as the air fuel mixture screw is not siting in an angle but the function is the...

1966 Johnson 20hp won’t idle and makes a stutter sound

I think on those engines you can not adjust the shift shaft. The shift shaft has a coupler under a cover at the mid leg. Both shift shaft lower and shift shaft intermidiate has a grove where a screw will secure the coupling. If the teeth at the clutch dog or the teeth for clutch dog at forward...

How to wire a kill switch on a '77 Chrysler 135hp?

Yes, correct and if the lanyard has both a normally closed and a normally open function you should use the function that open up the contact when you pull the lanyard. When i said in series I mean in between. Blue wire at keyswitch to one of the wire at the lanyard and the other wire at lanyard...

    150 hp lower unit replacement

I think it will fit, the numbers are for right lash for the gears. The two piece drive shafts gear case had computer calculated gears and there was no value for the lash. No procedure how to measure the lash, the digits at the gear case give you the information of which forward gear and pinion...

1965 west bend 450 45hp turning over issues.

Workshops that repair electrical parts for cars will be able to repair the old OEM starter. Generally they will clean it up, clean the armature, check the bushings and replace the brushes. The OB starters are similar to the starters for cars except for the starter solenoid. Are the starter and...
