I'm pretty sure that the only holes are for the motor pad, which I can use to mount whatever to the transom, as the Big Twin 40 only clamped on. There were no mounting provisions, and I'm fairly sure this was the original motor
After some research I'm Pretty sure it's required.. I scoured the internet and Iboats, and the majority have some sort of plate visable, including boats that were restored.
The one thing I did notice, is the motor is not dead center
Wondering if I can delete the green plywood spacer on the back? It's not big enough for the new motor mounting. I could make an enlarged one, but I'm fairly sure that they only existed for motors that did not bolt in place ( RD-28 only clamps in place ). I know I have seen many of these Holiday...
Time to bring this boat into modern times, with a brand new Suzuki DF25A. The boat is de rigged now, with only the old 40hp hanging until I can get a mount to hang it up. It's fully de rigged at this point
There are various boat junkyards across the USA that will have just what you want. There are also boat storage yards that have unpaid storage/ abandoned boats for years and they will sell those boats usually
The cutting boards are only 3/16" thick, and the dash is constructed of 3/8" plywood I think.
I may source some brushed stainless sheet instead. I should be able to find that at one of the box stores as backsplash material
Looks like they don't sell blanks unless I called them.
I think I figured it out, and a plastic cutting board will work great. Either Family Dollar or Dollar General sells very thin cutting boards and they should be made of HPDE, which is same as King Starboard. I have arleady used one for my...
It's an old trick... An un lit propane torch will vent raw propane in a somewhat safe controlled maner. A vac leak will pull the gas in and burn it. It will change the idle/ running quality allowing you to spot the issue. You will have to mix the gas a bit oil rich since propane contains no oil...
would cause both.. vac leak will cause a lean mixture which causes a high idle. And hard starting because the mixture needs to be richer to start ( choke ) . Check the upper and lower seals, and carb gaskets.. You may be able to use a propane torch BUT, I would put a lot of oil in the gas...
Since I'm repowering my '66 Starcraft Holiday 14 OB with a brand new 25hp Suzuki, I removed the choke/ hot light panel and the key switch panel which left 3 1" holes in the dash. I bought the 4" Suzuki tach knowing that it would cover most of what was there but it isn't going to cover it all...
Very much a case of what someone will pay.. It could sell for $50, it could sell for $200. Depends on if the fisherman or kid that just needs a boat motor for his jon boat/ row boat, or the collector is the person standing in front of you..
