1989 ish Mercury Force 120 ignition issues

Little drops of water on the plugs??? NO WAY should there be ANY water in the combustion chamber, any at all. Water on the plugs show the head gaskets probably bad or not sealing??? Had a 88/85 that started missing, did a comp test and 145 all 3 cylinders. Then I noticed 1 tiny drop of water on...

125hp force 1990...so are they any good? any past experiences/advice is soo helpfull!

I don't know about parts availability in the UK but in the US most parts can be found. I've owned 6-7 different Forces and worked on them since 1986. They're a bit harder on fuel but run fairly good. Just make sure the fuels fresh, no water/condensation in the tank and the trigger leads are very...

    RE: 1996 Mecury Force 120HP

It should pee all the time, unless the impeller is bad. The old impeller, when removed was it in 1 piece or missing vanes? Try back flushing the pee hole?

    leaking oil.

Looks like gear oil, probably leaking from one of two places??? The shift rod seal, or the drive shaft seal under the water pump. Drain the oil, drop the lower unit, then pressure test and using soapy water find the leak. That hole is there just for that reason, to drain excess water or unburned...

    NO GO!!!!???

2000 115 txry(?) 2 stroke. Starts great and runs all day at an idle. Give it gas and it dies. Won't rev up. Not overheating, good gas, carbs spotless, good comp all 4, good spark, fuel pump new, plugs good, linkage ok, motor seems to be in good shape, just no go. """GUESSING???"""Is it...

    Super Ugly Pistons

The port cover gaskets probably went bad and allowed more air to get in the system and created a lean condition, loose carb or gaskets somewhere in the intake side could have contributed to the problem?? An open condition on the reeds: a small amount is acceptable. Your reeds didn't cause that.

Force 85 (1985) Doesn't like to do more than idle in water - and often dies on its own

Always include the year, model and serial# if possible. Fuel pump. ?? The factory sent out a service bulletin in the late 80's that the air screw should be set at 1 turn out and left there. BUT!! not all motors run at that setting. I found 1 1/8th turn worked great on my motors. One of my...
