    That is a points system. File the points before you do anything else. That one coil(white/top) shows that it might be a problem. Those coils are fairly expensive.

    The 87 B came with points. Maybe someone changed things around? Make sure they are clean and making a good contact. That motor might have a kill switch in the system.

    outboardignitiondotcom has test procedures for your motor. Just replacing the stator might help then again might not??? Check for broken wires and terminals, especially inside the plastic plug-in connectors. We recommend that you remove the pins from the connectors and visually inspect them...

    Cold or hot shouldn't make much difference. You remove both plugs when doing the test? They sell snake camera's for most new phones, 16$ ebay Get pics of the bore from the low cylinder. Might just be a bad head gasket????

    Welcome!!!! Sounds like the floats not set right or the needle is locked in place(closed), take the carb apart and check the floats level. There's a bunch of things that can help in the first few posts in this forum. Read them and see if you can find how to set the float??

    The old impeller, did it come out complete? or were the vanes missing? Missing vanes, they get to the bottom of the motor and clog there and that causes an overheat??     It's a 1976 You running on the hose,muffs or bucket? The bucket needs to be real deep, 4-6 inches over the cavitation plate. The older motors needed a special muff, need pics of the water pickup on the lower unit. If you have the 2 piece lower? then you need a special muff.

    Compression test, spark test. The video sounds like it's running on 2cyl. How much oil you adding to the gas?

    Compression, spark, fuel. Roscoe says check the fuel pump diaphragm, along those lines, check the primer for a bad diaphragm (pinch off the hose from the primer to the carb).

    Yes, just unscrew the black connectors and switch them around. Change the plug wires too.

    Before you buy!!! try swapping the coils around and see if the weak spark changes when you swap them. In all my years, I've only seen 1-2 bad coils
