    The flywheel is mounted on the top of the crankshaft, it's indexed using a small piece of metal(key) it makes the ignition fire at the right time. If? the key breaks/shears the spark might not work or sparks at the wrong time.

    Forgot this, on the OEM pump, there's no liner for your pump I rebuilt an 87/125 in 1994 and replaced just one piston. It's still running today.

    The pic shows the top of the shift shaft. Turn that 1/8th a turn until it hits the right spot. You can be as much as 180d out and the prop turns. Spin the prop not the drive shaft and try to find the right spot.

    Yes the flywheel needs to come off. I think there's some good video's out there covering this. Just remember to leave the big nut on the top so the flywheel doesn't fly away( I've seen this) also wear leather gloves ,first time I saw someone remove the flywheel the guy ended up getting 15+...

    The shift shaft in the drive, turn it 1/8" at a time and spin the prop shaft. It will eventually hit the right spot.

    What is the year of the 150? Under the pack/coils and under the bottom carb on the block is a foundry stamp(circle) with the year stamped in the center. Pics will help?

    Sounds like your sucking air someplace, maybe one of the port cover gaskets? Maybe the fuel pump diaphragm is bad or a gasket somewhere is sucking air??

    Try the starting fluid test: start motor, spray SF around the intake side of the motor, under the pack and coils and under the carb. If spraying makes any difference?? then the motors sucking air somewhere???

    You just don't have the shift rod in the right spot. Drop it down and try again. I/8th a turn can make the difference between F/R

    Tested wires he "thought" were coming from the stator??? You need a DVA or Peak Reading Volt Meter for the best results. The regular analog meter can test the ohms from the stator. You do a compression test? Uneven comp can make the motor turn slow and not fast enough to generate power.
