    New motor

Location? salt water? Salt water use on a 40+ hours motor?? Myself I wouldn't buy as just about every bolt/screw will break off when turned. First thing do a compression test, then a spark test. Check gear oil for water. If it's new oil? then he might have changed it because of water. Oh yea...

    1991 Force 90hp starting problem

The pump is from a newer model, they switched to Mercury in the early 90's. Maybe someone with an older model can post a few pics showing the old pump and the hoses to the pump. That hole with nothing hooked to it could be the problem with the backfiring??

    1991 Force 90hp starting problem

The POP is a backfire, could be sucking air somewhere??? Most times the port covers gaskets get blown out when it backfires, Spray starting fluid around the intake side (under the bottom carb and under the packs/coils and if this makes a difference in the way it runs> then it's sucking air...

1994 Force 120 Thunderbolt ignition Tachometer hook up.

The Mercury ignition system doesn't use a 20 pole, that was for the older Prestolite ignition. Needs a 12p Mercury tach(I think)

Water pump disaster on 4hp Force

Idle down: choke needed?? Remote tank?? Check the fuel pump diaphragm, then do a starting fluid test, start motor, spray SF around the intake side and see if that makes a difference in the way it runs? If it makes a difference? then it's sucking air somewhere.

Tilt & Trim - how to release pressure

No pressure release. Undo the front hyd. line. There might be a lot of pressure when you undo the line. You'll probably need to remove the line to be able to lift the motor. Block it up, then tie it up using a rope . VERY DANGEROUS!!!!!

1990 Force 90 HP isn’t getting gas to spark plugs

You holding the key in as you turn it over? The key needs to be held in, not just pushed and released. You have the old style choke or the newer primer system? What's the compression?? Spark on all 4?

    CHRYSLER 105 HP

Having trouble turning it over: low compression on one or more cyl, the gears in lower rusted, timing way off, bad/weak battery, bad battery cable, bad connection???? First thing I'd do is a compression test. IF??? the compression is good?(all 4 within 5-10# of each other). Then get a factory...

    1991 Force 90hp starting problem

In the Force forum: look for these posts. Should be in the first posts in this forum. Remember there's NOTHING inside the pump that you can fix!!! Don't try to adjust or look inside the pump, chances are you'll be replacing the pump. The valves for up and down need replacing, see directions...

Missing kickstand on a Force 120

Found out the hard way: Use the trailering bracket and tie the motor down on the bracket. Make sure the cotter pin won't come out and allow the motor to bounce up and down as you travel. Can blow the seals. The bounce can blow the seals(already old) and you'll be replacing them. Start looking...

Struggling to install lower unit....Force 90Hp

IF??? both are in gear(shifter/lower unit) then as you raise the lower reach down and lift up on the prop ear with your right hand and continue lifting when the splines mesh. Before you try that: try spinning the prop while it's off, if it doesn't turn then you need to figure out why???

    Trim@Tilt locked in the up position.2005 150 2stroke

The motor turns but no movement up or down. The oil's full. The release is locked in place, won't turn. Any ideas? Any rebuild places cheaper than 5 Star? Easiest way to remove the unit? Thanks

    125 force shift rod replacement

How in the world did you break that??? Never saw one out ,yet a broken one??? To remove: under the bottom carb is pressed nut (that's a special locking nut #64) on top of the rod. The lower unit needs to be off. After the nut and lower removal it should come out the bottom.
