Need Help Please 85hp Force Tilt Motor collapses under load

Someone's messed with your T@T and removed the trim parts. The pic shows a trim actuator for a 50hp. the one for your motor is bigger. The two pieces together work in conjunction with each other. The other pic shows the 2 pieces together(50hp.)

    Omc 5.7 ignition timing

The car carb is probably sucking air someplace. Start it and spray starting fluid around the base. If the spray makes it run different? then it's sucking air.

Hints for setting idle mix on 1989 Force 85hp

These motors aren't made for slow operation and the plugs will foul after time. If you set them right for low speed they don't run great at high speed and vice-versa.

    Blue/green substance leaking from L/U

That hole is a drain that allows the unburned gas/oil to find a way out. Leaving the motor tilted up causes the carbs to drain and the fuel leaks down and out the holes, usually a normal situation. However: I'd check the gear oil and check for water intrusion?? The slotted screw on the nosecone...

    Starter and choke issue

You said NEW STARTER If the rest checks out? then the starter could be bad. The Chinese are flooding the market with realllllly crappy products. Starters, T@T pumps etc. All are crap. Take the old apart and clean the contacts and see if that helps. It's spinning but not enough to move the...

How long have you owned a Chrysler Outboard and what has been your experience

Neither: I'd get seasick watching the gauges :) Install a pee tube and mount it where you can readily see it. I installed car horns in place of the buzzer I could barely hear. Now if there was a light that flashed when it got hot??? I might add that too the horns.

1988 Force 35hp backfired and wont run now

You said: Then it idled way up, backfired, and stopped running. The flywheel key would be suspect until you said it ran again. One last symptom i noticed is smoke coming from under the cowl near the mounts after it ran for a few seconds. And I'm at a total loss as to what that can be. It...

Hints for setting idle mix on 1989 Force 85hp

The factory in 1989-90 produced a bulletin about the air screws settings. They said set the screws at 1 turn out and leave them there. Unfortunately not all motors can run at that setting :( My twin 88 85's seemed to work good at that setting, some won't run unless they're out 3 turns. Start...

    Tilt trim switch wiring

The choke doesn't usually go bad. The connections??? All it takes is a 7/16 wrench and a helper to activate the switch. If it's getting power you can use a jumper to supply voltage while you adjust it.

    Stuck in reverse

The shift rod into the lower unit: it may be locked in place by crud/ corrosion. The metal around the seal corrodes and swells locking the rod in place.
