    83' 115hp Mercury, prop slip

It was on a Crestliner Crusader 550. Prop was 19" Mercury Prop. The pic was taken in July 85/ I have a pic of the Tach and Speedo giving their Info, I just have to get it into the Computer A 4 blade will kill the Top End by several mph... I would NEVER put a 4 blade on my Boat

    83' 115hp Mercury, prop slip

I have never owned a TP Prop, I was at the Dealer, and took one out of the Box, it looked Odd, so I took a few more out, and several had 1 of 3 misshaped Blades. Maybe they had a bad Batch, but it shows poor QC and/or Inspection prior to packaging

Maybe you got away Lucky, but time will tell, redo the Compression Test after about 20 hours on the Engine

    Prop for Evinrude V4 crossflow

That engine weighs about 300lbs. I find it difficult to believe that a 15 1/2" even with 30 gallons of Gas and a Battery, weighing 1500lbs. You might have waterlogged Foam in it This 15 1/5 was 950lbs and this 16ft was 810lbs

    83' 115hp Mercury, prop slip

An 83 115 has a WOT Range of 5000-5500. The Last year an Inline 6 had a 5300-5800 WOT Range was in 1981, on the 140hp The best way to improve Efficiency is to reduce Weight. Getting rid of unneeded Weight, like Wife, kids, Mother-in-Law, especially the MIL, will help a lot. Mistresses and...

    Prop for Evinrude V4 crossflow

If you are doing 45mph with a 21" Prop, you are turning about 5000 I would check the Setting on the Tachometer Must be a Very Light, and I mean Very Light, 16ft to get that speed with an 82 90hp Even Glastron's light little 15 ft, got about 42mph with an 82 90hp

What’s this small tube do? Pics incl.

A water Pressure Gauge will measure speed over the Water, which is better for Skiing on a River, than a GPS which which only measures the speed over the River Lake Bottom, and can't take current into account.

What’s this small tube do? Pics incl.

The Pressure Speedo is measuring the Speed across the Water, doesn't matter if the Water is moving. GPS will measure the Speed across the Lake/River Bottom. I can see many people bragging how fast their Boats are, using a Distorted GPS Reading, cause of a Current.

    Point setting vs timing

99.9% of the Time, setting New Points @0.020" will get you the Correct Timing. Using a Flat Feeler Gauge on used Points, all bets are off, and the Timing Marks and a Continuity Meter/Light are a better choice

What’s this small tube do? Pics incl.

Don't put too much Faith in GPS, as it is measuring Ground Speed, and doesn't take a Current into consideration. Boating on a River, in one direction the GPS may read 45mph, and in the other 25mph, when the Current is 10mph.

Welcome to iboats That Hose sticking out of the Motor is the Pitot Tube Hose for Speedometer Water Pressure. The Hose zip tied to Trim Wiring Harness, likely the Hose going to the Speedometer Gauge

Conversion from I/O to outboard on Islander.

Few Fiberglass Boats use Knee Braces, They rely on the Glass around the Transom combined with the Motor Well on Outboard Models and Hull Cap on Inboard Models, combined with the Engine being bolted to the Stringers and to the Transom, which may or may not be full Width, to be the Transom's...

How much Prop should i try?

a 4th blade will certainly load the engine more, and kill top speed by several mph below what a 3 blade would do. Having the WOT range of both engines will certainly be of help, in making guestimates

How much Prop should i try?

First of all, what are the WOT Rpm Ranges for both the Old and the New Engines? What WOT rpm were you getting with the Old Engine? If the new Engine has a WOT Range that is higher than the old engine, you might not need a pitch change. Now switching from One Prop Line to Another, often isn't as...

    Transom replacement or design flaw?

A Strip of Right Angle Aluminium along the Board bolted thru the Transom will certainly stiffen it, another along the Top of the Transom, would also raise the motor a 1/4" or so too
