    73 Sea Ray restoration

Well, I finally got around to putting that lifter in, and it did the trick!!! Ran great got the valve lash, timing, and idle dialed in. Then I noticed it leaking from the push rod cover🤦‍♂️. Took the distributor back out to get to the plate and realized that it kept moving on me when I go to...

    Mercruiser 3.0 hot coil

Possible the coil is bad from the company, did you also change out the spark plugs possible one or more has a lot of internal resistance? Did you have the issue before the upgrade?

3.0 liter 4 cylinder engine does not turn over

How long is a long time of not using. My motor sat for 7 years before I bought it and it cranked fine. As others have stated unless it was not properly winterized it more than likely is another issue. Just because a starter clunks does not mean the starter is good, bad brushes in a starter...

    Quality Bullet Connectors

Have you considered changing them to spade connections. I had the same issue trying to find good bullet connections then decided its just a connector and used some of the better quality spade connectors I had on hand

Such a Thing As Making the Hull Too Rigid?

Probably used to hold the stringer off of the transom when piping pb under them. I did it similar but used tile spacers. once I had the PB locking the stringer down I knocked out the spacers and filled with PB

3.0 liter 4 cylinder engine does not turn over

Are you positive the starter didn't go bad? Just replaced mine it would engage and clunk but was not strong enough to turn the motor over.

Time it takes to prime cooling system?

^^what he said. Just started my motor (rebuild/completely empty of water) and had water out of the exhaust in a couple seconds

    73 Sea Ray restoration

I was going to go that route but I found the lifter for 8 bucks and on the inline 4 they are an easy swap just need to remove the distributor the push rod and a cover on the side of the block. Doesn't hurt to do some exploratory surgery, that is the only problem I can see or hear but I...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

I got everything tuned in and realized why the motor was putting up such a fight. I am getting a random miss on the #4 cylinder and a quiet popping out of the exhaust. It is definitely the exhaust valve for that cylinder. It looks and has the symptoms of a collapsed lifter from the top so I...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

Well doesn't look like a splash is in the future for this week unfortunately (going out of town tomorrow night). The motor was having some issues with valves, carb, and timing. I finally have it dialed in enough to get everything running smooth just needs some tweaks here and there. On a...

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

Awesome Job! Also the benefit of knowing that you have a safe boat for your family!!!! For a whole lot cheaper than a new boat, not to mention the satisfaction that you built it

    73 Sea Ray restoration

Well I got the shift cables adjusted and the tilt/trim adjusted. Got her fired up with the drive on. Everything seemed to be in working order. Got scared for a minute when I saw drips of water in the bilge, luckily I just forgot to tighten the drain plug on the elbow. Other than that it...

    Tilt/Trim backwards

Worst case scenario I am going to run with out the limit or gauge for now. I know its not ideal but I should be the only one driving the boat (but will make a warning sticker just in case). Eventually I will purchase a newer style pump and replace the newer style sensors and get rid of all...

    Tilt/Trim backwards

Well I did a lot of research and I have everything finally hooked up correctly. Not sure if the limit switch works just yet I need to buy some bullet connectors for the cut wires. I jumped it in the harness so I do not have to press both buttons to raise the drive. The trim gauge shows the...

Tube/Pipe for Routing Fuel Fill Line and Vent

If/when you heat the pvc to bend it, fill it with play sand. It will keep the pipe from kinking. Also if you need to connect more than 2 pieces together you can flare the end. Heat the last couple of inches of the pipe then use a beer bottle push the neck down the pipe and it will flare with...

Trolling motor mounting on Larson Bowrider

Ive looked into this also, so i am going to follow along. Although mine is a closed bow which opens up a different set of issues. The only thing I have seen was a platform made of diamond plate to extend it past the bow then a quick release attached to the platform

    Tilt/Trim backwards

Thank you, I knew I should have trusted myself and not how it was, I rebuilt the motor harness for the same reason (lots of wire nuts for connections) You are correct I was wrong when I said trim sender I looked up the parts diagram it is the reverse lock valve that is on the transom plate...

    Tilt/Trim backwards

That is what I thought (when I bought the boat they were hooked up how i have them) it seemed backwards to me but I figured it was right since that's how I received it. My gimbal ring was swapped with a newer one that has the hockey puck senders on the sides and those wires were all unhooked...
