    Serial Number

Not sure, I was somewhat in the same boat (pun possibly intended🤷‍♂️). The trailer did not have any serial number on it but I was able to get the owner to leave the plate on (distant relative). In Michigan they are permanent plates that do not need to be renewed. It certainly needs trust...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

The bilge kote (epoxy) I did not use a primer, for the rustoleum(enamel) I did. I used my hvlp gun for the rustoleum, I thinned it 10% with acetone and I used majic enamel hardener from tractor supply.

    73 Sea Ray restoration

I ended up cutting about 3/4" off of the motor mount to use the proper hardware for the new style mounts. I have all my sacrificial pieces glassed in and painted the bilge with bilge kote. Then painted the transom, ski locker, and under the bow with rustoleum professional with hardener added...

    Replacing rotten deck

Welcome, Pictures are needed or any advise will be a best guess. Read through the pinned posts at the top of the forum lots of good information there. Chances are the other stringer and transom are also rotted. The only way to tell is drilling core samples. The knock test usually does not...

    73' mercruiser rewire

This is the pictures of the front mount. I can shave it down about 1" before glassing it in, and get alignment with flat washer. I was asking because if I can use the coiled washer, id rather leave more wood on the mount for longer lags to secure the front. I know that they are not supposed...

    73' mercruiser rewire

Yes I did install the new style bushings. The transom is brand new along with all stringers bulkheads and deck. I hung the motor to get the placement for the front mounts. I have not glassed in the front mount yet because I wanted to make sure it would be the correct height for the motor...

    73' mercruiser rewire

Sorry its been a while since I updated. I put the rest of the motor back together then installed the deck in my boat. I hung the motor to get my front mounts placed. I used the newer serrated mounts that do not need the coiled washer. When I aligned the motor I could not drop the front low...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

I got the motor in and everything marked, aligned, and back out. Not bad with another person, too bad I was alone and it was back breaking getting in and out of the boat. I would like your opinion/advice please. I installed the newer serrated mounts that do not need the coil washer...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

Been getting some small stuff done here and there after work. Tomorrow will be an early day for me so I am hoping to get the motor set and get my alignment for the front mount. Then unfortunately back out with the motor to finish glassing everything up and get the transom, bilge, and ski locker...

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

A good rule of thumb is to replace at least what you took out. More is ok but you will start adding weight to the boat.

96 Bayliner 2050 - The Dirty Rotten Baystard

For a large project I would, if you do not run oil through your lines you may not need the oil separator. You can use the small disposable inline dryer with that setup I use it attached to the regulator on the gun. For $70 though you cant beat it, I was a little worried it would be a really...

Trolling motor for this 16 footer?

I just looked at the nav pro web page it looks like it is only compatible with a bow mount trolling motor unless I missed something. I have the endura 40 on my 14' aluminum which with gear my 10hp motor is probably only a couple hundred pounds. It moves my small boat at about 2.5 to 3 mph...

96 Bayliner 2050 - The Dirty Rotten Baystard

If you have a air compressor (doesn't have to be a big one) Lowes has a siphon and gravity lvlp gun combo for $70. I use it with the harbor freight 21gal compressor for when I have to go somewhere besides my garage to paint. It doesn't drain the compressor to the point of having to stop...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

Well not to much work done unfortunately, it has been 90 degrees outside so I have been doing a little work with lots of breaks. I recut out the keyhole and cleaned it up a bit and drilled the tie down rings in the transom. I also hung the bell housing and inner transom plate so I can hang...

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

Not sure about wood flour, I know people use it to thicken and it supposedly has better sanding properties. I have also read others say it will absorb and hold water. $20 from us composites will get you more cabosil then you will want (i have a bunch left over and not much more PB to make.)...

    1989 reinnel 192m

What he said^^^. I just paid close to $200 from a local glass place for poly resin, and close to $70 for plywood. I would have waited also but I am nearing the home stretch of my resto. I got foam from us composites about a month ago, the lady did say they were running on a short supply

Beginning of 1979 Cobia Sportster 18vbr Restoration

If the cap is on and you have a decent trailer I dont see why not. I did all my work on a trailer, I only lifted it when doing some of the crack repairs on mine.

Looking good. Do a good check of the hull to make sure you do not have any cracks (I found a couple in mine so I like to give out this warning). If you find any you can do a repair inside and out for a solid repair before deck and foam go in.

    13 foot restoration project.

Drill along the bottom at least every foot. Stringers and transom can and often sound solid even when rotten. If its dry and looks like wood your good to go, mix up some PB and fill the holes. From the pictures it looks like a gut job as others have said.
