Mercury Scorpion 350 Will not start

Welcome to iBoats . . . The wiring of significance is going to be engine related, so you should see about getting the engine manual, if you don't have one. 3 things to make the engine run . . . fuel compression spark It would be best to figure out which one you don't have. Did the marina...

    Trim gage not working

I never liked the trim sender designs . . . a boat repair person's dream.

    Trim gage not working

My idea is water gets into the sender unit on the outdrive. Another common thing is that the wires leading from the sender fray/break.

    AC Mr43T

I ran Mr. 43T plugs in my 454's . . . never a problem. I would rule out other possibilities vs. bad plugs.

    Strange engine sound need help

Stuff a rag in the water inlet hose while you are replacing the belt. You will get some water in the bilge, but not too much. Depending on how much slack there is with the hose, you may be able to position the hose above the water line while you work.

    Strange engine sound need help

Have you replaced the belt? I would not start chasing other things until you have replaced the serpentine belt and have thoroughly checked the pulleys for proper alignment.

    Blister repair .

Grind the blisters open . . .but then you should really let them dry out for a while. (weeks) You can then fill them with epoxy.

    Vintage Mercury Cooling Issue

Quick Update . . . The timing light confirmed the bottom cylinder not firing. I pulled the plug and it looked like it got some carbon fouling right away. . . (really not the right type of spark plug). I cleaned it up and now both cylinders are firing. Probably going to see about getting the...

Mercuiser 357 mag low compression on #6 (120 psi)

Just catching up on this thread . . . The OP has run off, not been logged in or posted in the past 10 days. The compression test spec on my Mercruiser 7.4L w/ about an 8:1 compression ratio was 150 psi. (Manual #16) Once in a while you might see 160. I know the 357 MAG is a bored 350 w/...

    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

Interesting . . . So, you are thinking it could be the engine, not the transmission? I'll see what I can find out to see if that leads anywhere. I did an oil change along with the tranny fluid /filter change. I have the Actron OBD2 Code gadget . . . no codes. I think my total annual...

    Mercury 9.8 110 2-stroke impeller question

The hub of the impeller is brass. It can get stuck on the drive shaft. That is probably what you are seeing. I had to cut one off on my 7.5 (basically the same motor).

    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

Quick Update. . . The snake oil (SeaFoam Trans Tune) is helping. The truck can hold speed on hills, but hard acceleration still gets the pulsating noise and slight tachometer upward movement. I plan on changing the fluid again in the Fall; as I am using the truck occasionally this summer.

    Vintage Mercury Cooling Issue

I installed some new spark plugs and took the boat out for a test ride. After 30 seconds of joy, the engine resumed running on one cylinder. I brought the engine home, pulled the flywheel and checked the coils for continuity (about 1 ohm each) and then I set the points, which were a little...

    Bravo 1 low water pressure

Your outdrive has the nose cone inlets as well as the side inlets. You should block off the nose cone inlets while running on the muffs. A cloth and a couple of bungee cords will do the trick.

Greetings, I see that this is your first post, yet you have been a member for quite some time. Let us know what brand of engine/outdrive you have, as the thread should go to the appropriate engine forum.
