No Spark on plugs unless this wire disconnected

The key switch shorts the ignition to ground to kill the motor. Removing the wire circumvents this feature. If it’s not working with the key, you have something wrong in the switch circuit. Put a meter on it to confirm, but I’m guessing your key switch needs replaced.

    Zinc contact points- sand clean?

Fresh water (chemically pure) is becoming less and less common. May have to bump up to aluminum if magnesium gets eaten up too quickly. If you’re in a marina, your most likely the victim of stray current. Otherwise, a bad ground or a current loop on the boat will accelerate the corrosion...

Powerdrive Advanced GPS Upgrade kit Remote recommendation

Well, I’m certainly not a fan of using a cell phone as a HMI display. In a boat drift fishing? Gonna get wet, gonna get beat up over time. No question here…. full size controls if you have the change.

    Lowrance Networking Help

Ok, you’re sharing displays. Should be able to share a gps source through NEMA. Anyhow, it looks like your stuck with one of these….. https://www.lowrance.com/en-sg/lowrance/type/accessories/nep-2-network-expansion-port/

    CLR salt removal experiment

Did you do a chemical analyst to determine if the material was actually salt? Reason I say that, salt is water soluble. Soaking in a pan of water would have removed a salt buildup. In reality, it’s calcium. Sea water has ~ 400 ppm of calcium. Reason why CLR did the trick.

    Shoreline Trailer Highlander Series

With the exception of frame parts, everything is sourced via a third party. Should be a manufacture's mark or part number on the part to identify the component in question.

    Zinc contact points- sand clean?

All “zincs” oxidize becoming less and less effective over time. Sanding, wire brush is better, will restore efficiency, but if there is any erosion or pitting, (looks like sponge) I just replace them What water type and anode material is in use?

    Lowrance Networking Help

Not sure what network cable you’re talking about. RU using the Lowrance network by chance? To add additional devices to a NEMA 2000 network, you simply put a tee in the back bone and connect the new device with a drop cable. In your situation, you would need to install two tees and two drop...

    Zinc contact points- sand clean?

The mounting bolt is the contact point. Where talking molecular contact, not electrical. Sanding the protective barrier (paint) from the surrounding area does nothing except expose bare metal to corrosion When was the last time you “sanded” the surface of the “zinc”? They oxidize over time...

    Garmin GPSMAP 7608xsv Issue

They use a 10-32 VDC auto-ranging power supply. Check to see what voltage is being reported by the unit. Went round and round with a Garmin tech over the issue. Kicked it up to engineering who called me back to discuss. Confirmed my diagnosis, bad power supply. Electrical ground is in the...

F115 IAC not receiving signal from ECU?

Swapping the sensors pretty much eliminated the sensor. You need to focus on the wiring (ground resistance -0 ohms) and or the input to the ECM to trigger the pulses. Don't know if this is the specific valve in question, but they all work pretty much the same

F115 IAC not receiving signal from ECU?

Diagnostic software is not a substitute for active troubleshooting. It tells you want is and isn’t happening, not why or why it’s not happening Do you have a factory service manual? Have you pulled the component(s) in question to bench test? ECM stored any alarm or error messages? Have you...

    Outboard motor upgrade?

Two things actually that they don’t understand…. In the drag calculation, the “flow speed of the object relative to the fluid” is squared, not doubled Going from 10 to 20 mph is not (10+10 = 20) (10 x 10 = 100) The bigger influence….Lift. At speed, planing hulls are designed to raise out of...

    Prop, or Engine Issue?

The difference is that you see them as a “classic” motor from your past. Later generation(s) see them as “vintage” (nice way of saying old) motors, that are inexpensive to buy. That combination makes them disposable should something go wrong. Bear in mind that vocational training in public...
