Tahoe T16. Will it fit in my garage?

A 'standard' 2-car garage might be 20', 22' or 24'. 24'4 is what may be more common  A tape measure would be the thing to use. Measure the inside length of the garage. Go measure the length of boat on the trailer (if you can). Also measure door width and height . . . same for the...

Tahoe T16. Will it fit in my garage?

Welcome to iBoats . . . We don't know how big a garage you have. But the T16 is 16' 5" . . .add 2 feet at the stern for motor clearance and 4-6 feet at the bow for the trailer tongue and you've got in inside clearance requirement of 22.5 - 24.5 feet. A 'standard' garage is about 24 feet on...

    Project with my sons

Lots of restoration threads to review and learn from hereon iBoats. So,start reading. Look for local fiberglass wholesaler/retailer locations in your area (Google your way). Otherwise there are some sites ( US Composites being one of them ) that can ship you materials and supplies, but the...

    Looking for first boat

Newbies often under estimate the amount of boat they will need and various logistics of boating. Safety is paramount, so it is important to learn about boats and water safety. Filling a boat up to capacity is not all that safe for a new boater. Pontoon boats are often favored for larger...

    Looking for first boat

Pricey . . . but you will get that sort of thing from many boat dealers. nadaguides.com and bucvalu.com are websites that you can use to get an idea of market value. BUC is better than NADA, but cost about $20/month to subscribe - NADA is free and worth every penny 🤪

    Looking for first boat

Welcome to iBoats . . . What do you envision using the boat for/ Fishing? Water sports? Cruising? A mix of things? That will indicate what type of boat you should consider. Then it is a matter of age and brand to fit into your budget. Are you a good wrench turner? or not so much?

How long for water in an I/O to freeze?

12 hours, 38 minutes and 22 seconds, or thereabouts 🤪 I'm with Bondo on this one , I'd say 6-12 hours in the mid 20's F will freeze the engine. Since the boat is inside a garage (unheated right?) that adds a variable, but the temp was 0˚ F - ish outside for a couple of days. . . I think...

Opinions on shop's quoted Bravo 3 maintenance cost

IMO - the impeller sounds a bit high, unless they are replacing the pump body as well. The bellows does not sound too bad at all, but you did not mention if it was just the drive shaft bellows or if it included the shift cable bellows too. Exhaust should just be the tube (not bellows)

    Possible Business

I believe there are lots of folks that currently do what you are planning on doing. I bought one of my small outboards from such a guy. His garage was full of motors in various stages of repair. Just be sure that for every advantage, there is probably a disadvantage that you must make sure...

What would you put in a small outboard repair kit?

Gummy Bears, in case you get hungry while replacing the impeller on the lower unit. :D Oh, did I mention a set of open ended/ box wrenches and an impeller? I think you will need 3/8" - 5/8" size wrenches.

    Newly bought Johnson 7.5

Welcome to iBoats . . . :D I have a 4.5 HP Johnson motor of similar vintage. If you can get gasoline to flow to the carburetor, see if you can get gasoline to drip out of the carburetor. That would be a sign that the main jet is not fully clogged (which it may be). Tell us how you verified...

    Cracked Block???

Yes, you have most likely suffered the cracked block. I'm sure there will be many folks from Texas and surrounding areas with the same plight, since it was wicked cold for several days and the power was out for much of it, so even the 'heated garage' folks probably have not escaped.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

When you see a restoration done with this high level of craftsmanship, you realize that most production boats are 'slapped' together by comparison. This boat should last a very long time.

    Mercury's New Outboard

List price is something like $77K per engine ???   However, triple OB powered would only need 2 of these. I like the dual props and the fact that only the LU steers.

    Mercury's New Outboard

I wonder if folks who currently have triple OB's will consider twin 600's when they re-power ?

    Mercury's New Outboard

I assume the larger displacement for the HP was due to naturally aspirated vs. supercharged like the traditional Verados. I wonder why they did not opt to go with a smaller displacement and supercharged  . They might have needed only 10 cylinders.

Leaving I/O in water all year round?

If you leave the outdrive in the water your-round, plan on a haul-out a couple times a year for new anodes and other maintenance. Things get bad, when an owner neglects maintenance.

    Snow Birds: Beware!

I just installed the ecobee t-stat this morning. I had only Rh and W wires, so I had to get a 'C-wire' adapter. Basically a 24v power supply. Everything seemed to go fine . . . just waiting to see that the heat cycles in a 'normal' fashion. I'm heading to the summer house later today to...

    First time buyer

Your big things to check are the engine/outdrive (as you mentioned) and the structure of the hull (what you cannot easily see). I am not 100% sure about your particular boat, but Sea Rays of the mid-1990's had a wood core structure and wood floor. @Friscoboater had a whole thread and YouTube...
