Oil injector 2psi check valve correct direction.

According to Mercury the part has been superseded at least four times since the manual was released back in the 1980’s? Is Merc supposed to recall and reissue all previous versions of the manual each time they change a part supplier or consolidate their parts inventories? To that end…every...

Oil injector 2psi check valve correct direction.

Never count on a "picture" when direction control is concerned. Simply blowing through the fitting will tell you which direction to install. In this case, oil should flow into the small tank and be blocked coming out of it

1999 J150 JP VRO pump circuit board

Depends on if you have "System Check" or not? I can tell you from experience that System Check does not kill the engine or limit RPM. Buzzer the idiot lights only. The PCB is comparing RPM to Pump pulses (magnetic). Assume the rpm signal is coming from the control pack

10AWG for a 1amp nav light? AWG Overkill?

Your over estimating a bit in your length and using a 5 amp (chart) instead of 0.7amp actual load. If you use the actual values the wire size calculator comes up with a 16 awg wire for a 1 amp load http://circuitwizard.bluesea.com/

10AWG for a 1amp nav light? AWG Overkill?

Should be using 10% unless your powering sensitive electronics. Having said that, most modern electronics have no problem with a 10% drop A 54’ long circuit on a 17’ boat? My boat is 22’-6”. Longest circuit on the boat is the distribution panel at the helm…31’. Longest lighting circuit is less...

    Pontoon trailer springs

The 5 leaf get you #2,850 The 4 leaf gets you #2,350 It's not always that simple..... using the same theory (#3,500 axle x 2), I replaced the broken 5 leaf spring(s) with 4 leaf springs. Couldn't get the equalizers to work properly unless I raised the tongue significantly beyond where it's...

Mercury smartcraft sc1000 sea water temp issue

Paddle wheels and temp sensor (thermistors) are notoriously flaky components. Don’t use transducers with temp or paddle functions built in for just that reason. Use a NMEA 2000 paddle/temp combo unit sensor for ease of replacement.

A few questions from a learner

Yes, that it it. Loose or bad wiring would cause the gauge to read empty when faulted. Jumping between full, 1/4 and 3/4 is normal behavior for a “cork on a stick” type sender. Change over to a “reed” type sender to resolve the issue

    I hate winter

Not looking at the right spot… Stripers will stick around until the water is mid to uppers 40’s as long as the bait is around. Find the bait you find the Stripers. Power generation plants? Draws them in big time during the winter. Look for deep holes where bait congregates during winter...

Wobbly Chairs - Garelick Commander 15"

Very common seat configuration. I’ve had Garelick Sliding/swivel seats on my last two boats. Looks to me to be a Frankenseat. Have never seen a mount that didn’t use a spider mount to attach seat to pedestal. Looks more like a table mount. Never seen a mount without large knob(s) to adjust...

2005 yamaha 250 hpdi Stator or Rectifier

With only 12 volts at idle you have a charging and or battery issue. How old is the battery? What is fully charged, rested voltage? Having said that, don’t expect a starting battery to keep up with a full compliment of electronics. I run a 1kW depth finder, chartplotter, radar, VHF and...

What do i need to get my engine data on my Garmin Echomap?

The EchoMap is NMEA 2000 compatible. Your motor is not.... You need to purchase and install a Gateway from Mercruiser / Mercury similar to this to get NMEA 2000 data https://www.mercruiserparts.com/mercury-mercruiser-8m0165589-gateway-can Don't know if this the exact one that you need, but you...
